Rocky Mount will be very competitive on both sides of the ball this year. They are big, strong, fast and physical. Finally.....it's high school football season !!!!

Rocky Mount is talented, but young. They played well in the Riverside scrimmage, scoring TD's both on the ground and through the air. As I recall, they only gave up one TD the whole night and they played some good teams (Rose, Northeastern, Plymouth, Jacksonville Northside, and Riverside) so that was encouraging. They also have a young, sophomore QB who has the potential to be special with some reps. The Gryphons' non-conference schedule is one of the toughest in the east with Middle Creek, Havelock, and DH Conley so they are going to have to gel early. However, the tough non-conference schedule will certainly prepare them well for their conference games. Bottom line, I expect them to battle Southern Nash for the Big East title, but ultimately come out on top.

That's what scrimmages are for, to look at different people at different positions and learn. SN moved the ball well at times and did have some stupid penalties and fumbled snaps that will be addressed before this Friday night. Lee County only was able to move the ball against SN when aided by penalties and scored on a long TD pass which is a concern but overall they shut down their Notre Dame commit running back. The defense had some young players step up and play well in the scrimmage which is what they need to have to be successful this year. SN also had two linemen held out with injuries. With more work and reps the new QB should get better in the passing game but SN isn't known for the forward pass anyway lol. I think overall parity will be closer in the BIG East this season. I don't think the gap from first to last will be as wide as it was last year. Franklinton is still an unknown as well. Anything can happen.

Didn't see it but I was impressed Hunt was 7-7 at the Cleveland scrimmage. Sure they're not at the level of SN and RM but maybe it's better than I was told it'll be. If what I was told was true it'd been about 21-0 Cleveland

I hope so, I don't know if you realize that there is a bond between Middle Creek and Rocky Mount. We all at Middle Creek wish the best for Rocky Mount. That's why the games between Rocky Mount and Middle Creek are always weird.

It will probably come down to SN and RM. Lee County is a very good team.

Southern Nash didn't look good at all out there!!! Fumbled multiple snaps, didn't have very effect passing game, defense wasn't to bad though.....
