If locals stop their run game during the regular season I'm sure they will start to adjust

WF has always win 7 on 7s. They just play in more now...they may not have as good a defense as last year but they always have a great one, I don't expect anything different this year....as far a throwing more this year? They bring back all 3 RBs and the Entire line. My guess would be same ol same ol!

WF is playing much higher quality teams this year in their 7 on 7's. They're going overboard on how many contests they're playing in. You risk injury to skill players when you play in a lot of these contests. It's more aggressive in tournaments, players are jumping high in the air, contact happens. All it takes is a player landing awkwardly, another player landing on them etc for an injury to happen. I think the WF Coach knows this but it seems that QB to receiver timing, route running, defensive coverage etc is more of a priority this year. NOW, watch him call 5 passes a game. πŸ˜‚

WF played the same in 7 on 7 last year. I guess the tournament selection is really what's different. You have to pass the ball and I do not see a difference in what I saw last year to this year in 7 on 7 from them. Did you hear about any 7 on 7 games they lost last year?

I saw WF play this weekend and where I agree this isn't real FB on the offensive end it is more realistic on the def end when trying to cover for 4 secs. WF secondary in very impressive and they shut down D1 talent all over the field. They have a lot of speed and are very disciplined. Add a pass rush and it will be difficult to throw on this team.

Why would Lucas look to pass after winning a state championship running the ball? My answer is that because it took what may be a once in a lifetime defense to win the championship. Their defense was simply off the chains, allowing about 4 points a game. He cannot expect to have that same type of defense this year. He may expect giving up points but able to get them back with a passing game. Their undefeated season was in jeopardy in a least a couple of games because that run-first, 2nd, and 3rd down offense was contained. I hate that offense! I know this is all speculation, but when has Lucas ever put this much effort is preseason passing? I am hoping he opens it up. You have to admit, it is impressive what they have done.

You could very well be right. I guess an argument could be made that its been a successful attack especially after last year. However I could just as easily argue it has cost them a ring as well. Either way it seems strange that he would have his team travel 3 and 4 hours to compete in passing tourney's and then go back to throwing it 5 times a game. Intriguing story line for sure.

Just FYI- Lucas was not at the 7 on 7.

Every year people talk about Wake Forest throwing the ball and "this is the year" WF opens up the offense.

That's not the system, especially with Devon Lawrence carrying the ball. There may be a couple of extra passes per game, but you can expect the same consistency from Lucas that has been run for years.

Wake Forest grinds the ball to shorten the game and wear the defense out. With the O-Line returning from a team that won the state championship running the ball, why would you expect anything different?

WF has there entire offensive line returning, from tackle to tackle to help protect the QB from those "6ft 6 lineman that will be chasing" him. Most have been starters since they were soph's. On defense they'll build around Jadacus Logan a jr. @ 6-1 335 and Jaden McKenzie another jr. @ 6-3 270. Both started at one point last year and have lots of game experience. WF will be tough on offense if they just run the ball (all three starting backs return). They can be really special if they use the talent they have at receiver more than they historically have in the past. It will be interesting to see what happens since they've never impressed with their offensive imagination or diversity under this coaching staff in the past.

If Wake Forest has anything similar to their skill guy's in the trenches. They will be a hard out in the East . Looking at the roster's out of East, not happening.

just look @ yourself if u were a quarterback playing a 7 on 7 and KNOW U DON'T HAVE A COUPLE OF 6ft 6 lineman chasing after u , u should have a field day throwing da old football. all u do is looking 4 a open receivers.

I have a firm understanding of what 7 on 7 is and what it is not. Have seen some of the best HS teams in the country play it. If Lucas decides to open it up just a little, maybe 15-18 attempts a game they will be impossible to deal with on offense.

They arent winning these things by fluke or against inferior athletic squads. Goodwin and Jiles on the outside have been impossible for anyone to cover. Jiles especially has a huge catch radius and can jump out of the park. Watched them 4 or 5 times over 2 days and they were the best two receivers I saw. What's scary is the best athlete on the team in Lawrence didnt even play.

It doesnt mean they win another title. It does mean they have some serious freak athletes and weapons if they choose to use them.

You expect teams like Middle Creek, and others who like to toss the ball around, to be good at 7 on 7. However, WF is a surprise. It tells me that they may have an effective passing game to compliment their running attack. Also, the fact that they're going buckazz crazy with nonstop 7 on 7's leads me to believe that they're serious about throwing the football 🏈 more. It doesn't make sense otherwise for them to be so busy with these 7 on 7's. I look forward to their game with Middle Creek. It's the first time these teams will meet in warm weather. Oh.....and I love FOX. If Sean Hannity was a woman I would take him as my 2nd wife!!! (Mainly because he is rich) πŸ’°

LOL...Thanks for the breakdown of the importance of 7 on 7 football. Especially informative is the part where you mention football is played by 11 players. Good to know. I posted the info for some of the Wake fans so they might get a glimpse of the action. Its funny...two weeks ago one of you guys was updating a 7 on 7 tourney every 15 minutes on here.

FYI- Its so unimportant that 20+ schools traveled over 400 miles to compete and I believe there were over 15 teams with state titles over the past 4 years competing. Your right though, nobody cares.

7 on 7 cant tell u nothing, b cause d quaterback does not have 2 worry abut getting hit from side 2 side nor from the back side, so he can move around on d field and locate d receivers with in the time limits.

Just a FYI for some of you Wake guys. Powerade 7 on 7 semi and final is televised on Fox sports south this afternoon and I believe Wake Forest is one win from the semis. Might want to tune in or tape.
