Some kids especially with the late birthdays can use an extra year to get themselves together so I have no issue with proactive steps including holding them back a grade prior to HS.

Agree here. Best opportunity is 7th or 8th grade. You can choose a HS and if your child is young, hold them back a year if you are serious.

Thing is lots of parents think there is stigma or negative holding your kids back and then there is the friends thing. So, tough decisions.

Parents have the greatest flexibility when their son is in the 8th grade. Do the homework on the school. It is ridiculously tough as there are so many High Schools close together. Go meet the HC. Now WF and Heritage are currently hot so don't just go there as keep in mind there is competition at these places. You just can't go to WF and think you gonna start.

Prior to the 2013 season Wake County had controlled choice process as oppose to the current school assignment. I'm not very clear on how that worked back then.

Cool...learn something new every day. According to this link (http://www.wcpss.net/Page/278), Wake Co has 4 capped high schools for the upcoming year...Enloe, Fuquay-Varina, Heritage and Panther Creek.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools should get on board with this sort of thing. They currently have some seriously imbalanced enrollments and not much guts to stand up to parents when they try and move the boundaries.

Yeah just looking at his pic on OT I'm saying no way he was held to 2 sacks if he lined up all year as a DE.

The recruit to watch at heritage will be the QB. He is the true threat

He's big and quick for his size. Saw him a couple of times last year. He's being recruited on potential it seems because he hasn't competed at a high D1 level yet in my eyes. But he definitely has the tools. Don't rely on defensive stats on max preps. So few teams do a good job of filling those in. I'm sure he had more than two. You can see that on his film.

I'm curious how often the transfer got to the qb. If I read correctly 2 sacks? I saw max preps so it could be way off

Enrollment caps will limit or block the volunteer transfer who don't actually move. It has been communicated that even with an address for that school individuals are not guaranteed enrollment. They could be sent to nearby High Schools

No such thing as capped. If you move to the district you get to go to the school and no they don't have to sit anymore than a kid who moves who plays trombone has to sit.

Everyone gets transfers from families that move. Everyone. Nobody cares until it's a 6-3 240lb DE. Then suddenly they " stole " them.

If all it took to build a winning program is transfers Hough would have won 5 titles by now.

They can do the waiver request if it is volunteer transfer. If they move to the district I don't think it is a sit out requirement or no waiver required?

There definitely must be exceptions to the cap policy to all transfers as it is being communicated if you move to their district you can't get in. Maybe it is just a public stance to avoid mass transfer attempts.

We have 2 of the best running backs in the state with one being one of the best in the nation. McQueen is just as dangerous Z ,I like to to see McQueen play both sides. That kid can run the ball and put a smack down offense player.

And this folks is how you build a winning program at the high school level. Steal the best players from other schools. And yes they may be capped, but I'm sure they'll make room for a stud football player. Also, I thought if a athlete transferred they had to sit out a year??

  • SQ630 Jun 2, 12:53 a.m.

I thought the School was capped even if your address feeds into the school so that is a huge pick up and just may be the missing link for a state title.

MJ....he was traded by Millbrook to Heritage for two Cheerleaders and an assistant coach to be named later.

Just read that the Junior defensive end Boletepeli from Millbrook is transferring to Heritage next year. That'll give them 5 D-1 recruits. I know it's an understatement to say this definitely improves their team outlook for next year. The WF-Heritage match up(s) next year just went up a couple notches as the potential game(s) of the year in the area.

No one knows about polls but here is what I do know! If SC can't win it this year barring major injuries, I will agree with all the other haters on here (Mr AAU included - LOL). That team is loaded from pillar to post - now if they can learn how to effectively use the forward pass this will be 2011 all over again. Going undefeated in the regular season should not be the goal - go undefeated in the post season. We have done that dog trick before. The improved schedule is really a site for sore eyes after watching Indy, New Hanover, Glenn and all those other teams that couldn't punch SC n the mouth. They will get punched right out of the gate this year.

For a team like Scotland, winning it all is the goal but they finished their season in the semi-finals last year. Not like they just tanked.
They have a lot of skill guys back in addition to White. Not sold on their oline though. They are coming back but they weren't great there last year. Like 2016 said, it's up to the QB for sure. For their sake I hope they have one.

They have had some headscratchers to be sure. However....if they dont get at least to a regional final this year I think the Scotland fans have every reason to question the coaching. Best back in the country and the #2 is also special. 4 of 5 Olineman back and a stacked defense with several special athletes. The one question mark is QB and at least theoretically you would think after week one they will have 10-11 weeks to get him comfortable.

Dont kid yourself...they wanted that Creek game for a reason. They have had zero interest in that game for 3-4 years. Suddenly they want to open the season with them. They know they are stacked.

Wake Forest is a program now. Lucas has kids stacked and they have also become the " move in" program in that area. The one thing I dont concern myself with is defense with Wake Forest. Its where Lucas lives. They replaced Dexter, they will get Hodge and Gill replaced even if those kids are a notch down.

Offensively they have a ton back including one of the best backs in the Southeast. Maybe they are 2nd, maybe they are 5th but they are going to be preseason top 5 in any poll out there and will be the rabbit on the dogtrack. They will need to be better than last year because they will get everyone's absolute best shot. Thats what happens when you get the belt.

Appreciate the vote of confidence, but WF loses a ton of defense from last year. Xach Gill, 3 of 4 starting linebackers (including Hodge) and 2 of 4 starting DB's.

Another new year, different talent, many different coaches. To me we might as well spin a bottle, it will end up the same as trying to guess who will be in the top 10. Normally you can say the schools with the programs, but that doesn't guarantee anything.
