I have an opinion about that. If you saw the Enloe/Broughton game last year, you know that Enloe won that game (scoreboard says they lost be 3). Enloe had 3 TD's called back due to horrible officiating and a fake punt attempt that was clearly pass interference by Broughton. If that game was played under normal circumstances, Enloe would have beaten Broughton by 3 or more TD's.

I don't think Broughton will beat Enloe next year (unless weather helps them again). A ton of returners at key skill positions (DB, LB, WR) for Enloe.

Millbrook will be the favorite but watch out for Wake Forest.. It will be interested to see who Leesville hires but watch out for them, they may be better than some ppl think and sneak up on some teams.

    1. Millbrook 2.Wake Forest 3. Leesville Road 4. Wakefield 5. Sanderson 6. Heritage 7. Enloe 8. Broughton

Millbrook lost a lot of talent on Defense and their defense is what carried them last year, but like deadeyejoe said it's very hard to say.

Very hard to say. On paper, Wake Forest should actually be stronger this year than last, but games aren't played on paper. Millbrook should be strong. I would expect Wakefield and Heritage to fall off just a bit. LRHS is an unknown, at least to me. I'll defer to teammugs on them. Sanderson will probably keep improving. Broughton...no idea. Enloe, well...good luck.

It will be interesting to see who emerges. Another league with a lot of solid teams.

I think Millbrook won't be as good as people think i think Wake forest, wakefield, and Heritage

Millbrook has got to be the favorite...then again I'm curious what Heritage will bring...

Mr. AAU...why do you always have something to say about the EAST...when your location says Durham...you are in the EAST!

Even with all that whoever comes out the east will still get the mercy rule out on them by the west champion

All great points. Can't wait to see how the Cap-8 shakes up this year.

Wakefield has a rising soph at QB that evidently has a really good arm. They also have a Jr that played receiver last year on varsity but played QB on JV as a freshman and I think a kid is or will be transferring. It's definitely a big question mark. However, they have 2 excellent RB's #6, rising Jr and another kid that played up during the playoffs that really shined. If #6 can stay healthy and the o-line improve their run blocking, they should have a good year. Defense is getting better and they will have 2 good and veteran LB in the middle. Their JV squad had a good year last year as well. It will be tough to match 2013 but I beleive they will compete for the CAP 8 title again. They just have to get past those dang Wildcats!

@919gridiron not in the 4aa east....

Who is playing QB at Wakefield? I didn't weigh in on them because I didn't know that fact. They usually have big crop of QBs. I thought last year's QB (Evan B) was outstanding.

I don't think Sanderson will be at the top they lost there whole O-line it will be a toss up between Wakefield, Wake forest , and Millbrook

Millbrook appears to be loaded. WF looks solid as usual. I wouldn't expect Wakefield or Leesville to disappear. Heritage and Sanderson could threaten a few of them. It will be interesting to see if Enloe improves with new staff, but I doubt they will threaten the traditional cap8 powers.

As an insider at Millbrook, I'm keeping an eye on Sanderson.

Millbrook has a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball and some highly recruited defensive players. I like Millbrook and Wake Forest to battle at the top followed by Wakefield,Sanderson and maybe Leesville

  • middleburnpage May 16, 2014

milbrook then saderson, maybe wakefield. there's wake forest also. The cap 8 is the hardest conference.

  • Cap8oldtimer May 15, 2014

Millbrook retains a strong O, loses slots on D. This is something that the Cats will need to make adjustments for. It can be done. Too early to say Leesville's returning talent is on a lesser extent since it essentially ran wildcat last year and focused primarily on two players on O and D. Teammugs has discussed their remaining talent pool before and it sounds like they are a.o.k. Wake Forest is going to be stout on both sides of the ball.

With talent returning to Millbrook, Wake Forest, and to a lesser extent Leesville; do you see the Cap 8 with the same top three schools from last year? Any change in the conference champion?
