sterling johnson

RE: sterling johnson

Congratulations. Best place I have ever seen a game....90,000 orange strong and an unreal college setting. Good Luck.

RE: sterling johnson

I guess Tennessee staff were/are looking at many defense guys and Johnson didn't want to risk putting himself in tough roster situation so he jumped off the board to Clemson. According to friends still at school, Clemson is apparently one of few favorite teams growing up so it didn't surprised them too much. Still, that BR article confirmed my thought that he want to go to Tennessee at first but I think he'll fit in very well in Clemson.

RE: sterling johnson

Do you really believe that bosox? Do you really think UT had to have him go to camp to offer him? A tough roster situation? Much more to it than meets the eye. You don't think Clemson was looking at many guys as well? Please see it for what it really is. At least he had a great place to land. Best of luck to him in Tiger town.

RE: sterling johnson

Just saw his highlight film...A GROWN MAN!!!

RE: sterling johnson

Congrats to Sterling Johnson !...but remember, when you hear of a player having 30-40 "offers" more than likely MANY, if not MOST of them (and probably ALL of them if they are not yet a Senior) are "non-commitable" offers meaning a school is interested and is offering a schlorship on "conditions"..i.e. improvement on and off the field, academics, coming to their camp, we want to see you in person, we want to see camp/combine numbers, etc., and in many cases those non-commitable offers are withdrawn for whatever reason (the player didn't come to their camp, the school all of a sudden has a RS Freshman who has improved, another player at YMCA high school is more interesting to them, the players grades aren't what they had hoped, etc.),--it's a way for schools to throw their hat in the ring to be in the running for a "potential recruit" ..whereas a "commitable" offer is a done deal, money in the bank, a school basically saying, we've seen enough, know enough, all you have to do is say 'yes', on signing day or before (verbally-yet that can still be retracted)....the SEC, the BIG 10, some ACC schools, heck almost anyone nowadays are notorious for making "non-commitable" offers...just to stay in the game for a potential recruit.
That being said Congrats and Way to go Sterling !, and he won't be the only FBS player/lineman coming out of Cleveland H.S. this 2014-2015 season ! Bryer Rogers is blowing up recruiting boards in the past few months ! GO RAMS !
