Ravenrll you must not be in sales, sometimes you have to assume the close. If the only parameter was the best football team than Garner would be the obvious choice. I am not sure which way they are leaning but I think Garner sounds like it might be far down the list.

Garner is excellent in football and basketball and as far as I know very competitive in all sports. They are a magnet school so the academics should be good. The problem is you may not want to live there. Drive around town and decide for yourself. Drop by the Garner Walmart any time after 9pm and you'll think you walked into the bar scene from the original Star Wars. kmagnusson

I got a question for you sir. As far as crime is concerned how many times have we seen high profile murders in the Apex and Cary areas vs any from the Garner area.Correct me if I am wrong but was it not kids from Apex Cary area that killed that kid and tried to hide it a few years back? Garner is and has been a home that loves its kids and backs its schools. Some of the kids @ MC even went to schools here over forced busing but I have not seen or heard a word from anyone about Garner being a bad place to live other than your remarks here.

I personally would not live in Garner, I told the originator of this thread to drive around and decide for himself. The Walmart comment was a joke. I have been there 3 times and ran into a lot of characters, the third and last time someone tried to open the driver side door of my car in the parking lot a few seconds after I got in. They were asking for some money and I told them I didnt have any. The door was locked so they were not able to open it. As it turns out, this Walmart is not in Garner it just borders Garner at 401 and 70. There plenty of places I wouldn't live in the triangle. But why list them and upset more people. There are plenty of great neighborhoods in Garner and a lot of great people. The area bordering Garner Highschool is having some issues but good luck finding an area that doesn't have crime! Once again I'm sorry if I offended anyone! In retrospect I wish I would have left the nonpositive comments about Garner out.

You are forgiven sir and I too am sorry if I stepped on any toes! This has been my home for 53 years and we love our town as well as our kids greatly. To get to the real point Wake County schools as far as sports are concerned has moved to the top in many ways as a whole.I was born in the old Rex Hospital and raised in Garner as was my kids. If I had to do it all over I would still pick Garner as the place to be because they really care alot about the family as a whole and are very serious about their kids and schools here. When I was in school in my younger years wake county was never on top of sports. But now it seems alot of titles come thru Wake county first.

Rlee1117, hearing some of the responses from the Garner folks regarding my comments leads me to believe there is a strong sense of community in Garner. As a result, people take offense to comments that don't reflect positively on the town. Say anything negative about Apex or Cary and it doesn't bother me at all because I don't have a sense of a tight community here where I live. Apex is a nice area with nice people but there not as tight as Garner. When I moved to the area in 1993 I wrote Garner off as a place to live but in hindsight that may have been my loss.

Sir you are more than welcome to come join our family @ Garner anytime you wish sir.You will find that Garner is a big family and welcome family and kids to our area. I will go as far as sending you a season invite to come sit and watch games on the home side so you can see first hand how friendly and caring we are to each other in support of our kids win or lose.Alot of people take Garner wrong in a lot of ways because we do not think we are better than no one but our kids and coaches put forth the effort to be the best they can be week after week. History has proven us to have great teams here because of that effort that keeps the health and growth of family number 1 here. Just to give you a laugh I will tell you about what I did when my kids played here. I would take late lunches just to go watch the kids at practice and to go to games in middle schools. That all red Ford truck followed that bus to every game and win or lose we still loved our kids and their efforts.Coaches in the area could learn alot from the staff of coaches here at Garner that its alot more than x's and o's that make teams winners.The current coach has been on staff for over 15 years as was the coaches before him. You never hear alot about where our kids are going but they end up in places in the SEC,ACC, BIG12 among others. Then we get to see some on Sunday and even in the Super Bowl.This has gone on since 1977 here when Eric Williams that played here could be seen playing for the Steelers.Then Carl Franks for Tampa Bay and the list goes on. Watch the draft this year for Reggie Bowens from USC of the SEC. The kids have to put in the work tho and they always drop in to check on the current teams @Garner and see the coaches and teachers.Garner=Family,God,School then sports. With any of those pieces missing it will never work no matter who or what team you are and yes that includes Garner. GO TROJANS

I don't live in any of the areas, but I'm familiar with them. I have lived in Fayetteville for my high school career, and now Greenville. Fayetteville or "Fayettnam" as it most commonly referred is said to be a dangerous place. I have never once had any problems there.

In every city or town, there are places that you just should not go around a certain time of night. Is any Wal-Mart safe at 9 pm? lol

Look past the football team (who is on the rise) and I say Sanderson always has a good basketball team, baseball is top of the conference, soccer is one of the best in the state and top 12 school in the state
