Why is this sight being ignored

Why is this sight being ignored

Why is Nick Stevens or whoever created this site ignoring it. If you look under Recruiting the info is a year or two old, the last high light videos are from June 2011, I sent a Highlight of my son to the address provided 3 months ago and nothing.

This is a active forum with great news and updates from folks all over the State and yet the One thing this site was created for "High School Sports.... News" is being ignored by the people who created it

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

Bleach7175 ,read some of the blogs from the list such as wake county and the likes .welcome to my world friend ,I stopped holding my breath 3 years ago friend.you have to take your sons highlite film to other sources, such as college atheletic directors ,it takes some work but you can do it .

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

Send it to ATHLETE VAULT. They do cut-ups of game film and are linked to the colleges and universities. They are based in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Free service.

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

if its not cap8 or tri9 information it will always be ignored, i love wake county schools they are filled with excellent student athletes and great coaches but the bias on this site is ridiculous, one sided coverage for sure.

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

Post was not so much for me or my son's behalf as I have a pretty good handle on the process Having gone through it my self, most questionnaire's have a place for a highlight link "thank goodness for Hudle" as well as looking in the Staff Directory for Recruiting Coordinator or Position Coaches emails etc..It's for the many who do not.

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

No doubt tobacco rd 919! And bleach 7175.i have had the opportunity to coach with players who were Allstate and tried the local guys Tim Stevens and nick Stevens and wouldn't give me the time of the day but that is okay because those guys are a one way street just like tobacco has stated .thanks again for this topic.

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

If you like it or not, facts are facts. HighschoolOT and it's parent company, WRAL, are in the media business. Ratings, advertising, and site hits drive coverage just like they do in all media (not taking a shot at WRAL, it's just the times we live in). That being said, where would they get the most "bang for the buck"? In the condensed areas of Wake County and closely surrounding schools. Naturally more populated areas means bigger schools which normally equals more viewer/readership It's all about economics, unfortunately. Not saying it's right, but in today's age it kinda is what it is. I think the same thing holds true for the collegiate level as well where D-1 overshadows most other divisions as far as coverage goes. For a point of reference, this is coming from someone who played at a small school and have coached both at small and large schools as well.

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

It's not so much about constant recognition from these outlets but a little more would not hurt .i think the people on this blog aren't asking for too much and if weren't for all the people who contribute to it well it wouldn't last.i guess we should apologize to nick for contributing to his blog and for the passion of highschool football.

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

Schiess- Actually I think that is the strength of this board, the fact that people can come here to talk/debate/argue about topics and teams that may not be "officially" covered. To ask for a little more would require either A) More resources or B) A school/area with high viewership/readership to not be covered. Either way I don't see the economics there. I'm not trying to make excuses, just trying to say I can at least see where they are coming from.

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

schiess & bleach,

Considering I work 60+ hours a week on HSOT, I can assure you this site is FAR from being ignored. A few things:

1) I can only speak for HSOT, not any other media outlets, but our resources are limited. I can only be in one place at any given time. I have to chose where I go and how I commit my resources based on many things -- time, distance, interest, website traffic, budget, etc. Those things are not unlimited.

2) This (the part of the site you're on right now) is not a blog. This is a message board. This is a free space for visitors like yourself to talk about whatever you want to talk about, within reason. There is no way I can talk about every topic in our very large coverage area.

3) Schiess - I'd be really curious to know about the "all-state" news you've sent to me and I "didn't give you the time of day" because most people who work with me on a regular basis will find that claim hard to believe. We post all-state teams on HSOT when they're released. Perhaps you're confused about what HSOT is... This is NOT a Scout.com, a Rivals.com, etc. We are not a scouting service. We are a media outlet that covers high school sports. Obviously that means we cover recruiting from time to time, but that is very different from recruiting websites.

The claim that this site is ignored is quite laughable though. HSOT has grown exponentially since its launch in 2008. Things that are ignored typically don't grow.

Concerns can always be directed to me at nstevens@wral.com.

RE: Why is this sight being ignored

Nick, I tweeted you the news about Raper leaving Hunt for Northern Nash, and then when Stevie Hinnant was named coach a couple weeks later. It would cost you absolutely nothing for a retweet. A coach with 200+ wins and 3 straight eastern final appearances leaving for a conference rival is news. Yet you chose to ignore it. That's not news worthy? I understand you work hard on this site, 60hrs a week is tough, I work it too. Takes 5 seconds for a retweet and just a few minutes for the story. I'd suggest trying to work as smart as you do hard if its that big of an inconvenience, otherwise just tell everybody if its not triangle or Johnston County this site could care less and all us outsiders will stop considering this a source of information for our schools. Not gonna speak for the others, but the Hunt fans have supported your site and message board since you started including us a couple years ago. How bout dumping the ones that show no interest here or in tweeting every score into #hsotscores and support the ones that appreciate it and support the site??
