Not directed at Wake at all. Just an observation of most schools. There is no such requirement in most counties and it is not some kind of state law to post an opening.

heelmainia- I have to stick up for Wake County a little bit on your last post. When you said it's too bad that more administrations are not honest and decisive when it comes to a "phony interview process" I assume you meant the fact that HCHS did not post, knew who they wanted, and reportedly gave him the job. I know of many cases in Wake where it is in fact the case, however county dictates that the job must be posted for a certain duration and asks that at least three candidates are interviewed. I wouldn't assign a lack of honesty or decisiveness to the WCPSS principals (not in all cases anyway), they simply have their hands tied by the higher-ups.

This was the plan if Turner left when Thomas was brought in by administrators last summer.

Why post the job when it really wasn't open? HC should be applauded for not wasting everyone's time with a phony interview process. Too bad more administrations are not as honest and decisive in decision making.

Why didn't they post the job? Seems like they would want to get best coach not most convenient.

On a more posititve note, there are two veteran, former head coaches, currently at the school aren't there? So they could promote Wyrick or Thomas.

I am speaking about they treated the kids like heir stupid and called them names and put their hands on the kids. It was never about certain people as a coach! But there was some seriously close incidents that could have gotten the school sued. Support that for a while! I grew up in a system where I lost 9 games in 7 years, including Pop Warner. I never got cussed at and never had hands put on me and was never humiliated as a teaching tool. And yes, it did happen, every day and game. It's not necessary to coach that way to win. The younger coaches in this area in several sports seem to think that that is the only way to teach and coach! It's sad!

    That sounds about right.

Careerman, I'm not trying to single you out, but I can't really take what you say seriously about the attitudes of the coaches based on the fact that your opinion of the coaches seems to change like the wind. When Turner first got here, he was terrible according to your posts on this site. Then, the next year he was great (again, according to your posts on this site). Then, last year, he went back to being terrible. So I have a hard time believing that the attitudes of the coaches influence you that much since they have been both great and awful according to your own posts. If I had to guess, I would say that you had a son who wasn't playing as much as you would like and then got some playing time and then maybe last year wasn't playing as much as you would like again.

The problem in the stands sometimes is derived from the attitudes of the coaches! It spills over from them to the players and then to the parents!

I couldn't agree more born69... the problem at Harnett Central is very often in the stands.

Whoever it is I just hope the narrow minded fans and or parent give him a chance and not be negative from day 1. BE POSITIVE!!! It will spill over to the kids and program. A few bad seeds and remarks sets the whole tone.

Bill Wyrick would be a fine hire for this job.

Again, biggest problem is at the very top!!!!!!!!!!

I mean someone that has never coached at Harnett Central! Turner had coached there before as the JV coach!

They did that last time when they should have stayed in house. Problem is at the very top in HC.

Need to hire from outside to get the stigma out of there! there is a serious funk around the football program! Just my opinion!

Wyrick would make a fine HC for HCentral.

Patrick Turner is leaving. Now maybe Wyrick gets to job? He probably should have when Morris left, but don't know if he wants it. Maybe the change is what HC needs to try and get back to where they were during the 2000's.
