Garner High AD: Defensive coordinator Thurman Leach will be next Garner head football coach. Official announcement expected later today.

It's good to see an old Fuquay grad get his due! Great hire, although not surprising. Garner should be lucky that he didn't get hired away all these years.

Not surprising and no doubt a good choice for Garner. The only way you don't have him as the next coach is if he didn't want to be. There is a lot to be said for rewarding loyalty. No doubt the Garner tradition will continue under Coach Leach.

Loyalty is nice but the most important issue here is that this is a quality hire of a capable candidate that exemplifies the image of what the ideal high school football coach should be. His leadership, knowledge, and experience is why this man was hired and why Garner will continue to be contender on a yearly basis. Great school, program, and staff. However, the community as well as the students getting exactly what they need in the next HC. Look forward to the upcoming season.

Congrats COACH LEACH !!!!! Garner tradition will live on with great coaching and great kids playing @ Garner ! I am one happy Trojan fan and look forward to many seasons under Coach Leach as HC.

Trojans won't miss a beat with Coach Leach. No need to derail a freight train that's been moving in the same winning direction for 25+ years. Most importantly, the student-athletes are the winners with this selection, which is the way it should be in high school athletics. Hal Stewart has got to be smiling somewhere tonight, as the train he built keeps moving...
