There are lots of copy cat "combines". 40 to 75 bucks and you get a tee shirt and a time by someone that may not know how to properly time you. NIKE runs a great combine and it is free. The 40 is electronic, slow but consistent. NUC runs an ok combine. Go to Nike, blow it up and then hit the local circuit. NC State, ECU, UNC all will have one day camps. Go blow it out and they will offer. Duke runs the best one day camp I have seen. 40 bucks, they test you, teach you and wear you out. The coaches run it, not G.A.s and local high school coaches. If you blaze a few combines, stop going, all you will do is weaken your stock. If your times are bad, keep going. Good luck, be careful and do not get ripped off.

Maybe it is exposure but is it good exposure and worth it or just a money grab? Never really hear about a kid getting a scholarship from local combines.

It seems like this would be the opportunity some athletes need to get exposure that they may have not gotten from their high school this year. capitalwildcat66 is right. College coaches want to see film on guys and will need the kids' transcipt to verify they're eligible.

I attended one back in the day in S.C....they are pretty much run like summer camps, where the athletes get tested in all the measurables...40, vertical, bench press, some one on one drills(no contact)...etc. It would be wise for anyone going to be able to supply highlight videos and transcripts if possible, and expect a long day of football....the one I attended even had a morning seminar about what to expect as a prospective college athelete.

@blakegarwood,there is a start for that player you were telling us about,is he a senior or junior? It's opportunities like these that can help big time for his exposure and give his real 40 time .

Just heard that there is a combine for Seniors on Jan. 12 where college coaches will be in attendance. I've heard of these in other states where the kids can work out for college coaches and scouts one last time before Signing Day in Feb. The information I saw from the organization's website said the cost is $40 and it's being held in Fayetteville at Jack Britt HS. The website was www.bigshowcombine.com.

This sounds like a good idea. Any thoughts?
