If Orange stays down at 3a they will be there at the end. They should be on the map this year.

I feel like the playoffs this year is going to be suprising. I thing this year its up for grabs. I want a triangle team in it again.

Can't speak for the West but gotta like Richmond County and Scotland County. Don't be surprised if Cardinal Gibbons does some damage in 3A either.

Charlotte Catholic moves upto 4A next year. If they are able to make it to the state finals I think they present a challenge for the Western division. I know Porter Ridge moves into the same conference with Butler and Independence. That should be fun. Britt has to replace a lot on defense, plus the starting QB. I see the team making the playoffs, but not a strong run. Both 1,000 yard backs return so that is a plus.

Just to let you know buckeye Garner did not get smashed. Also the same team that beat us that year beat y'all did they not?

I agree with you and that is where all of them aspects come in to play. To be faster, stronger, bigger and better than any other team you work, fight, practice and play harder. This is not just for the young men it's for the coaching staff, AD,parents and Administrators to make it happen.

I've seen lots of teams with hardwork, heart, determination, blood, sweat and tears not win anything....it also takes talent. If you think Havelock, Northern Guilford, Butler and New Bern just "wanted it more" then you don't have a clue. I'm not saying those things don't matter, but speed and size go a long, long way.

The teams that really want it will take it. That come blood, sweat, determination, tears, hardwork and heart. So this time anyone can. Anything can happen between now and the start of the 2013 football season

nothing at all going on in Apex so i guess its easy for you to hate on other counties, question has Apex ever won anything.

If you mean to say Apex, then yes, they will never get the job done!

any team from Mecklenburg,Guilford, Scotland, Richmond, New Hanover and Carteret counties can be discounted...Transylvania and Dare are looking particularly strong once again....

  • scousler Dec 11, 2012

Well, eliminate any team from Wake, Johnston, Durham, and Orange county to start off, as they just can't ever get the job done.

That only leaves 96 more counties for a potential state champion.

Give Cleveland a year and they will be right back in the mix. They did lose a lot this year But they have some big boys on the offensive line on JV they do have Martin back so that is a plus. I think there big issue will be on defense next year but after that the sky is the limit.

  • Tyler12 Dec 10, 2012

Havelock should win somewhat easily. They have one of the best backfields in the state.

  • gww3001 Dec 8, 2012

Orange will again be in the 3a mix.

  • Cleveland Blue Dec 7, 2012

I think Cleveland will be in rebuilding year next year with the heavy loss of seniors, but Coach Morris will have something for the young guys.

  • cantbustem Dec 7, 2012

Why would cleveland be a favorite?

  • Tyler12 Dec 7, 2012

Yea Havelock will be loaded yet again. Taylor Woods is one of the best backs in the State.

The 3 I predicted were the only ones I made picks on. Although I would of picked Swain and Tarboro as well.

I predicted 3A, 3AA, 4A, and 4AA. Came close on Tarboro and Swain as well.

I predict that the teams that go unbeaten in the playoffs will win the state championship in each division.

By the way, my prediction was perfect this past year! :-)

Yea NB has guys returning that have had good play time experience this year. Look forward to seeing Hughes behind center.

Don't discount the Bears. There is a slew of talent returning and some great athletes coming up from a really good JV squad. Couple that with great coaching and we will see. They will definitely fly under the radar next year which is just fine with me, but the conference change couldn't come at a better time. I look for them to be extremely competitive and make a deep playoff run. Would I say they are favorites to win another championship, no way....but they will be dangerous and anything can happen. Hanover should be really good as well. Agree that Scotland will be a force and probably the favorites. All in all, it will be the same teams as this year in contention again.

New Bern will be talented but SC should go undefeated next year. Butler, Richmond, JB, the usuals, should be very good. Would be shocked if SC didn't win the next two with the talent they have coming back. Mike Hughes will take the reigns at QB for next year, he reminds me of Cooper at Havelock.

@Buckeyefan987....Whether you believe it or not.4a and 4aa is determined by how many students are at the school. Not talent on the field. You Mecklenburg County Kats are something else!!!!!

I dont know much about the western part of the state. but i do know that Bern had an OK JV squad. Scotland Has a good JV squad with plenty of junior speed and returning starters. Of course our Sophomore QB !

Until butler gets beat they should be the front runners in 4aa.. Richmond, Indy, mallard creek and maybe jack britt but until east learns some defense and to throw the ball the 4aa will stay west... Look at WFR three years ago they couldn't threw and the good crushed 44-0, Garner and jack britt hasn't had much of a defense and look they got smashed... Over the 4Aa history the east is 1-13 and that one win was new Bern against a two lost Indy team that was down their running back and leading tackler but hey they won fair and square no excuses.. But the east needs to become an overall balanced to to compete with the west in the 4aa.. Just my opinion
