RE: Good game Garner
Evan Parker did not come to Leesville for football. He is an outstanding kid and student and it had something to do with that. I believe there is an article in the paper from a while back about him transferring to Leesville and why he did it; correct me if im wrong.
RE: Good game Garner
No, he transferred because of football, if i read the article correctly. There was no future at Sanderson and Leesville Road had more of an upside. He knew he was not guaranteed the starting QB spot, according to the article, but he felt it was a better situation at LVR than at Sanderson.
RE: Good game Garner
RALEIGH -- Evan Parker just wanted to have fun.
âI grew up like any other kid; you always want to win playing sports,â he said.
Parker hadnât had the type of success playing at Sanderson High School heâd dreamed of as a child, so when Wake County schools unveiled its choice-based school assignment option this fall, Parker took advantage.
His options came down to Millbrook, Sanderson and Leesville Road, Parker said. With Millbrook having lost star running back Keith Marshall to graduation, and Parker looking for a change of pace from Sanderson, he zeroed in on Leesville.
âIf thereâs this opportunity thatâs presented before me and I donât take it, I donât want to look back and wonder âwhat if,âââ Parker said nearly three months after his first game as Leesville Roadâs starting quarterback.
âThereâs a lot of speculation that the reason I did it is because I wanted to get exposure or to get a scholarship,â he said. âReally when it comes down to it, I just really wanted to enjoy football. At Sanderson, although I had great relationships, the wins werenât there, and in football itâs really black and white when it comes to success. Itâs your win and loss column.â
