I will be attending this game. I'll probably get there really early. I played with Brian at ECU. I'm happy for him. When people questioned his hiring, I knew he could get the job done. If you ever met him, he is very personable. I think bringing in a guy like him who has played at every level gives the kids motivation, and the feeling they want to learn from some what like that. He reached a level that all these kids want. If any of the Garner folks want to meet up, e-mail me at Piratefball17@live.com I have to do the dreaded "honey do" list on Black Friday then I'm free!!!

Looking forward to a great game.

Nice piece on HSOT regarding JB coach Brian Rimpf and his brother, Nathan. Many thanks to Nathan Rimpf for his service & best of luck to him in the future.

I missed the game last year because i had to work!! My brother would call me periodicly to update me and all i could hear was the crowd in the background. This year i will be there standing behind the endzone. I hope for a hard fought exciting game with garner winning in the last minutes. For those who are going and cant find a parking space on the campus, go across the street to the old movie theatre that way u won't have to park on the street. Good luck to both teams and seniors play your hearts out. Once its over it hits you like a ton of bricks. And for those that are lucky enough to play at the next level, you will always reflect on the fun you had playing high school football.

This game will be like the RC game. JB has the offense, Garner is more of a pro style offense. 40 to 46 who has the ball last will win. Britt will not see another run team like RC but Garner has a good D too! I just don't know!

Garner been running through all their competition all year long but Jack Briitt is a team that always compete. They beat a good Richmond team from a strong conference this will be a heavyweight bout. I even think Garner will get down in this game but come back and make this a exciting championship bout. I can't call this one jack BRITT wants some revenge from last year I think the team with no turnovers win.

You no it is great to see to great football teams on a field with the talley the young men have but for what i have seen from both teams this year i will say that Garner has the best team from my view so i fill Garner will bring the A game and britt will have the b team this time ..but good luck to both teams and god look over them

Leesville's motivation was also losing in the same round at the same place. just sayin. I must admit going into Richmond and scoring 56 pts is unheard of and very impressive. Hard to believe that same team struggled to beat Pine Forest in Ot two weeks earlier. Britt's only chance is ball control. If they 3and outs in the first half this one will be over fast. Gotta keep the ball out of Garner's hands.

  • piratefball172 Nov 20, 2012

    Motivation is motivation.

Garner's motivation centers around being so close last year, and this being Coach Smith's last game.

Britt's motivation would be losing last year in the same place, same round, and their seniors have state championship experience. Wanting to prove they can win without the man who built their program, and proving a lot of people wrong who left them for dead.

For once we disagree LBeck lol,

I know the Britt kids could care less whether its at the Boneyard or at Garner since it is a short distance. Unless Garner pays the refs....it is a non factor to them because they are bringing a crowd as well.

Honestly, I think you could throw home field advantage way from this one. Britt travels well...Garner will have their side packed. It might as well be at a neutral sight.

Just messing with ya Teammugs on the ref deal. You have always been a good sport on here and that's appreciated. One good point you did mention, Britt beat RC at home. That has to be a huge confidence boost. I grew up in Fayetteville, Britt was an old farm field when I was there. But living in Raleigh now, I'm going to pull for a triangle team. Good luck with whatever it is you do in life. Hopefully you will stay on the boards for years to come.

"Jefferies is playing outstanding right now. He picked apart Leesville's most of the night."

Can't say enough about the kid...last year he was the starting Qb on a very good team and a pretty good player...from what I saw this year he RUNS the offense, makes the right decisions on pass plays, makes all the throws, evades the rush, picks up the blitz and makes very few mistakes...all things considered he is one of the best Qbs in the area...right there with Mitch and Salmon...and the unquestioned leader on that offense...very impressive...

Key to this game is not to eat too much on Thursday. The team that eats the most will lose cause they wont be able to run up and down the field as many times it will take on Friday, cause its going to be a lot of running going on.

I think lbeck is right. This game is going to be won on the sidelines. Remember last year, Garner's game plan was just about perfect for Britt. Both teams have great athletes, I think which coaches can make the right adjustments will be big.

Turnovers will be big too. Garner tends to make turnovers hurt. Britt's secondary will be important and have a lot of pressure too. Jefferies is playing outstanding right now. He picked apart Leesville's most of the night.

I also think the winner of this game is in great position to make a run at Butler/Mallard Creek. Both teams have had great competitive games leading up to this to get them ready. Mallard Creek really hasn't been tested until this week in the playoffs and Butler was exposed a little last week against East Forsyth. Its a shame these two games are so far apart. Both will be classic.

Garner at home is a tough proposition, Garner at home with a lead is almost insurmountable...They come out fast and fired up and you must be prepared for an early onslaught...and they do get after it a little in the hitting department (It's a contact/collision sport)and they play hard up til the whistle...Britt has alway been patient and confident in their game plan and wear the opposition with strength and numbers...and for people who didn't know this is the 1st time Britt has beaten RC - EVER...and they did it at RC and hung 56 on them in the process...this will be an interesting match up

fridaynightfan - with officials you get what you get...this crew was equally bad to both teams with what they called and what they didn't...but even though we saw too much of them they didn't determine the outcome of the game, but they certainly didn't help the flow of it...if I don't see them again this year, they won't be missed...JMO

lbeck, I think it will come down to second half adjustments. Which staff can make the necessary adjustments.

  • lbeck37439 Nov 19, 2012

Both of these teams know alot about each other from last year.Last year Garner won cause the staff found a hole in Britts D,so again it might come down to which staff finds something about the other teams weakness.

not sure which JB team shows up for this game. I havent seen them play in person but there seems to be a few inconsistencies. Scotland and Smith handled them easily but they hung 56 on Richmond. They barely got by some mediocre teams as well. Ive heard that the qb didnt play against Smith but if one player makes that much difference (like Berrios) Britt is in for a long night.
Ive seen Garner play 3 times now and the offense looks better each time. Too many weapons to count. Garner doesn't make many mistakes on offense. Defense is fast but they have holes in the secondary. The best game plan all year was Leesville in the 2nd half keepin the Garner offense off the field. They killed Garner in T.O.P. in the 2nd half and got back in the game.
If good Britt shows up..Garner by 10 if the other Britt shows up Garner by 21. Gaarner is very tough place for an opposing team.

And I know I'm experiencing my own home cooking, but I think Britt wins this game. Kind of scared to say that because everytime I have predicted a loss they end up winning.

The biggest thing I think this team had to get over was losing their coach in June just before fall practice started. The new coaching staff didn't have time to get their feet underneath them, the inital shock from the players, and the community. The two games they have lost were to Scotland team coached by Bailey who basically knew everything about to the team he was facing, and to EE Smith without their star quarterback.

If the secondary can hold up, our front seven will be tough to run against. I think this year's offense is more potent because of the 2 1,000 yard rushers. They are bigger than the tailback they had last year, and are tough runners up the middle. Add McRae into the mix who is load to bring down for short yardage situations. Jalen McDaniel had a sprained ankle in last year's game but he is upto 6'3 215 pounds. Add Edmund Grant at 6'1 180, Sean McClain at 6'4 220, and #84 to the mix and they are more dangerous this year with the passing game. This will bascially come down to who gets more stops than the other.

Garner is well disciplined. They play great organized football. Both teams have extra added motivation besides playing in the state championship game. Obviously Garner came close last year, and it is Mr. Smith's last season. Britt wants to prove everyone wrong, and make it back to the state title game. There are plenty of players on both sides who have state championship game appearances. I'm ready for this game.

Garner, at home, Blue Crew in their back pocket, hostile enviroment, Jeffries throwing like he is, and the defense as tough as it is. I see Garner having some difficulty with the Bucs, but i believe that Garner will be too much. I see a 37-28 game.

  • kmagnusson Nov 18, 2012

Garner 48 Britt 41. Garner defense won't be able to stop Britt and Britt will chew up the clock but Garners QB and receiving Corp make the difference. If Britt scores on quick drives then this game will go into the sixties.

Butler - Mallard Creek will be a war...MC QB has established himself now (1st game as a starter against Butler in the 1st game of the season - no pressure there)and Butler still remembers losing a 20 point advantage to Page last year...if it wasn't so far away - and there wasn't a Garner - Britt rematch on - I might make the trip...Wonder if Britt's returnees from last year's team remembers the Garner game...for a while this year it looked like they might not make it...they both seem to be peaking at the right time

  • Toddler10-21 Nov 18, 2012

Gonna be a good one. Sounds to me its going to be size aganist speed. Garner has alot of speed. That # 15 was all over the field aganist Leesville on both sides of the ball. As for Britt, that QB is a beast. Can run, and throw the bowl. #18 reciever is a beast also. Dont think there will be much defense. Garner will be hard to beat at home.

BattlingBishop 5 - saw Britt at Southern Durham this year...on D they are huge - the entire front 7 is big...on O their QB (you saw him last year) is big, fast and has a gun...the 2 RBs reminded me of Garner last year the way they complimented each other with the inside/outside threat the TE is a man among boys...I was surprised that they lost any games this year but they have had their problems with suspension - and injuries/sickness to the QB...I'm thinking of coming out for this one since I think it's going to be the game that ours wasn't...but Britt has been vulnerable to the pass and #8 may be the key again this week...and Garner's O line has got to keep the pass rush off of him...the Game last year was hard fought and Britt has returned a majority of the players on that team...and Scotland's speed - and TO's killed them in that game...the QB didn't play in the loss to Smith so you can take those losses with a grain of salt...and piratefball can tell you more since he's all about Britt.plus the Head Coach played at Leesville (2003)but don't hold that against him he went on to ECU...
