^I remember a time when GT fans circled the Cary & Millbrook games on the calendar. Garner has played Millbrook 46 times &, after some intense counseling, I'm happy to say we're 24 - 0 against 'em. lol

Nah just 3 if you want to count 2007, but being from Garner I don't think you do...49-35 to a 3rd place Millbrook :-)

The only cure for leesvilleitis is for Hines to transfer to Middle Creek, I wish there was another option, I'm sorry Battling!

Nov. 18, 2011...the Pride of the Greater Neuse rolls over Leesville 42 - 21, or something like that according to the N&O.

said Mugs, "Wait 'til next year!"

Nov. 16, 2012...the Pride of the Cap 8 rolls over the Pride of Leesville.

said Mugs, "Wait 'til next year!"

Kind of reminds me of a State fan but at least we know who coined the phrase. Mugs has been saying that, for what, 20 years now? lol

We're hoping Hines moves to WFR next year so we can match him up with Bryce Love and Reynolds...that is unless they transfer to Garner or Wakefield.

BattlingBishop 5 - that motto sounds more like Britt this year - doing more with less...but "Wait 'til next year!"...support and praise for high crimes and misdemeanors...

"Leesville's going on 20 years old...to meet the best program ever 2 years in a row and 4 times over all is an honor...maybe we can do it next year when Garner reloads again...wonder where their players will come from next year...I hear there are a lot of people moving in to the Garner district because real estate is so reasonable..." posted by teammugs

I like that! In fact, our new motto will be, "Doing More With Less!" We do appreciate your support & high praise. You can't hide the fact that you're still Hinesy Hurt over Hines transferring. It happens, big guy. Move forward....no need to dwell on the past.

Yes, the band definitely stole the (halftime) show - very impressive. Word is they hired away Garner's band director last year. Maybe the Trojans can return the favor by taking Leesville's coach... lol

First, my apologies for re-opening this thread after it had been dead for two days - rookie mistake. Meanwhile, good programs - good schools - don't need to recruit. Good players are natuarally going to be attracted to the better programs. Parker followed the rules, applied and was accepted to attend Leesville. Hines moved to Garner and attended Garner. Clanton, who attended middle school in Garner, moved back and attended Garner his senior year (not a "stray"). Meanwhile, Wake Co (unlike Charlotte/Meck and Winston-Salem/Forsyth) does not have open enrollment. Even under the 1 year of the "choice" plan, students were still limited to 3 options based on their address. And as a magnet, only 5% of GMHS students are classified as "magnet" applicants. All of ONE player on this year's varsity roster is a magnet student. Enloe, SER, and Millbrook all have much larger magnet populations, in part because they have the available seats. And based on my observation at halftime last week, looks like the only program doing any recruiting is the Leesville HS Marching Band. Kidding, just kidding...

Mugs ,ask word of God where they got their running backs the last three years and two state champ wins in a row.there is a 8 man powerhouse out of Virginia called Southampton academy who does it the right way.teams can go from good to really really good in one off season as I have been a witness to playing word of God.we beat them like a drum two years straight and then who turned out the lights the next season by the end of the first half wog 49 ccs o.i know all about it.

Never said he didn't - and apparently some folks can't take a little ribbing...and if he does he can speak for himself...and stray RBs have a habit of showing up on Garner's door step No?...Like Blanton a couple of years ago (but only after setting records in Fayetteville)?...bottom line is there is plenty of talk on the Garner side, but if you call them on anything then it's oh so serious...can't have it both ways, and no one ever said that they or anyone else has broken any rules...but plenty have alleged 'recruiting' (I can't but it sure does ruffle some Trojan feathers)...and Sanderson is a lot closer to Leesville than Leesville is to Garner, but then again lbeck37439 you would know this...

Heyman - no problems...thanks...Leesville may be good again next year...keep the faith...

From 2001 through the 2005 season LRHS won 12 games with 2 4 win seasons thrown in there...sometimes it's tiring to hear how they don't play anyone or they're not ready for this or that...I'd much rather be in LRHS position than South View now...and that's not taking a swipe at South View...but things change...

Teammugs it's ok Leesville did have a good year, but came up short just like last year, maybe next year. They did win the CAP8. Congrats.

the play made it to the tail end of Football Friday highlights...#44 will be back next year as will many of the Leesville team...the game didn't turn on this one play and the player played the rest of the game...well said daggumit...but nobody's making the refs responsible...they made and missed many on the evening...their incompetence showed no favoritism...

  • daggumit Nov 19, 2012
    Towel Boy

Berrios did not make the hit......it was #44. Also any player worth is salt knows that when the ball breaks the plane of the goal, the play is dead. Do not try to play this up as the officials fault.......and no it was not dirty play....both teams battled until the very end and handled themselves with class and represented their schools with just as much class.

  • HSBBFan Nov 19, 2012

Looked to me the Garner player slowed down and held the ball..to taunt. Maybe it was a late hit,but can certainly see why Berrios hit him

  • teammugs Nov 19, 2012
    Sports Legend

C'mon...If you are going to score you don't slow down as you approach the goal line (ask #6 from Wakefield) and you don't stick the ball out as if to break the plane from a yard out...defenders are instinctive players and if they think they can stop a score by causing a fumble at the goal line they will try to...ask #6 if he'd like to have that one back - he had 305 yards receiving and after the game there was one play he was remembered for...and if he managed to score and Mr. Hines did hit him late, I'm not so sure that we're having this conversation...

  • ff fan Nov 19, 2012

I know the play you are referring to. Leesville and I'm sure Garner is taught to play until the whitsle blows.
Unfortunately for Garner, there were no whistles or any signal that Garner had scored when the hit was made. It might have been a late hit, but you can put that one on the refs, not the players.
Other than that one play, it was just a hard fought game on both sides.

Nobody's forcinc you to read these posts, Heyman...as a matter of fact YOU have to navigate here to read them...so yes you can move on...and don't bother with the Cap8 next year...if you are a "fan" we don't need you...congrats to Leesville for a good year...the game this year (as well as last) was fast, hard hitting and aggressive...none of the players feelings were hurt by that, and it could be argued that the more aggressive team came out the winner...Thanks to Garner for being good hosts and a 1st class package all the way around...good luck against Britt...and the faint of heart probably better not go to the game, because this one might get down and dirty also..

  • Heyman Nov 19, 2012

Sorry Folks, can we move on to the next subject. Leesville is at home ok, and Garner moves on maybe next year one of the CAP8 teams may get it going. By a CAP8 fan!!!!!!

Leonard Washington- I agree that on that one play a player made a poor decision out of frustration. If you want to say that play was dirty, I may be able to buy that. However, I would not classify Leesville as having played dirty at any point in the game. In games as physical and emotional as this was there will be outling points for both sides that are not representative of either program.

ff fan- so hitting a player from behind after he has clearly scored is clean? if so why did you get a penalty?

  • ff fan Nov 19, 2012

I'm sorry Mr. Washington, not sure what game you saw, but Leesville did not play dirty. It was a hard fought game and both teams left it all on the field. I take exception to you calling our boys dirty. They played football and hit hard. Period.

Middle Creek has benefited by playing Garner every year since MC was founded. Even though MC has only beaten them once it still has helped them to be a perennial Tri-nine power. Playing a easy non conference schedule helps no one just ask my IOWA HAWKEYES!
