For what it's worth Dante didn't practice for a few days last week and didn't take any pre game snaps.i take nothing away from Hunt ,but Dante is one tough kid to go out there with ligament damage on his throwing hand .way to leave it all out there Dante!

Thanks jsh. No excuses, we had our chances and no point in "what if's". There were two turnovers (that I saw) forced by Hunt: one was a very hard hit to Grazen and the other was after a nice catch by Zaruba --he had the ball stripped which was just great defense by the Hunt kid. It was a competitive game and we CG fans are proud of all the kids. CG had injuries all year but played through them and no point in using them as an excuse. I remember having to play Orange without Washle the starting middle line backer. But the younger guys stepped up, especially Scott and Lydon. Shout out to Grazen, Washle, Stankavage and the entire Gibbons team----you all had a tremendous year and became the first team in school history to go undefeated in the regular season! Well done! And Dante should hold his head high. Imagine the pressure he faced having to go in for Stankavage.

As far as the Hunt crowd, it was the largest crowd I remember seeing over the past 4 years. They brought it.

Gonna have to hand it to the Gibbons fan base on the board for not using the Stankavage injury as an excuse. Classy, no doubt. I felt for the 2nd year in a row CG had trouble dealing with the physical play of Hunt, maybe that's just the way I saw it. How bout the number of folks that made the trip from Wilson. I was impressed and I was expecting it. The Football Friday highlights sounded like a home game for Hunt. I've watched Joyners 60 yard run about 10 times. Not sure how he spun thru that. Not sure either team actually played their best last night. At least one of the Gibbons turnovers weren't forced but a bad decision. Y'all didn't use it as an excuse but as a Hunt fan I can't help but feel it may have different with Stankavage even though Dante played great for the most part.

Great game by all the CGHS Crusaders- When Gibbons recovered the onside kick- I really thought they were going to win. Would have liked to have a little more time on the clock run a few more plays- plus we lost a TO on the 2 pt conversion so that didnt help. I thought Dante played great and with great poise. Congrats to all the Gibbons players on a great season.

That was a tough one ,nothing but the best for Hunt the rest of the way.

Considering the defense he was facing, he did a great job. CG came up short but I (and I'm sure the other CG fans) have nothing but praise for Dante stepping in.

Forgot to mention that Dante was a freshman stepping in for our starting QB that year so I know he is use to stepping in when called upon so it is Definetely not his first dance.

Dante will be fine ,he was our QB against word of God in the 8 man championship game 3 yrs ago and led his jv squad to consecutive undefeated seasons, bottom line he can handle the situation .go crusaders from the cary Christian varsity staff.

Dante competed for the starting job at the beginning of the season. He is a great athlete and has incredible ARM strength. I think the bigger lose here is that Dante is their starting slot receiver and will have to be replaced. Good luck to stankavage in his recovery and God watch over him in these tough times.

Yes that's right jmbsr1! I had forgotten that one. Will definitely need that same confidence and execution against a powerful Hunt team.

I agree csj2. If I'm not mistaken the back qb played receiver. He came in at qb when Stankavage got hurt for a play and made one of the biggest plays of the game with that wheel route pass completion. I was shocked at the coaches decision to pass in that situation. But after that play I understand why. Very confident kid and a good football player. Hope he plays well.

Definitely tough loss but the CG backup qb is not the typical backup. Very solid all around athlete who has contributed in every game this year. Still expecting to see a great game tonight. Thanks all, and best of luck to the Orange Panthers in their match up against South Johnston

I think I speak for every Hunt fan when I say we hate to see an athlete get hurt. Especially at this phase of the season. I hope he recovers fast. Still expecting a great Crusader team tonight.

What a huge blow during such a crucial time of the year. Such a good football player and hope for a speedy recover. Good luck to CG tonight and represent the Carolina 6

Just saw on Preps Now twitter that Gibbons QB Shawn Stankavage will be having ACL surgery. Shawn has been a go to guy all year for Gibbons. Now time for Dante D to step up and finish the job! Good luck to Shawn on a speedy recovery and Go Crusaders!
