The key to NH winning this game falls to their qb. If he makes mistakes like he did against ser its going to be a dogfight and Clayton could grind it out and win. If he plays well and his age doesnt show it will be all NH.

need to think about it would go back to the top 16 teams.like the 2 round is this week. all of your top 2 teams from each conference in the east won.

Still can't believe we lost that game to Sanderson a few years back.

I agree with setchamps99 to a certain extent.

Although the POD system has something to do with it, the whole A-AA thing. I mean imagine the bracket if we had just one 4-A in the East. A lot of great games with just 1-2 seeds from each conference. Would a Wake County team make the 4-AA finals? Possibly. I think Garner-Leesville Road would be able to make it. Field would be tough. Scotland, Richmond, New Bern, New Hanover, Leesville, Garner, EE Smith, Britt, Middle Creek, Clayton, Lee County, WFR, Wakefield, Page. That would be enough right there.

New Bern 18-8 vs teams from around Raleigh

There isnt but a couple big 4AA teams in the east that isnt located in raleigh. Of course there bound to get to the state championship every year. Take pods away and they would never get close. Look at new berns record against teams from raleigh the last 10-12 years... we played some of ur best over the years .

NH has too much speed for Clayton. NH has a young QB, look for them to run run run and throw screens out to their talented WR. If NB takes care of business, looks like round 2 for NH and NB. Didn't want to see them again this year. Things got a little chippy in Wilmington last time out.

What type of offensive set does New Hanover run?

I agree with the lack of travel...and the 'inflated' records are against good - not the best competition...you want to talk about that to Wake County folks who control that money feel free...it will fall on deaf ears...2 schools have to be willing to play...we don't see the TOP of your league since apparently the Triangle isn't on their agenda either...and ANY team can be beat...and the Triangle hasn't fared too badly in the playoffs...and since when is stating facts pumping our chests...your bad Laney team got up early and folded to a better squad, being ouscored 31-7 in the process, like MCHS would have done to any bottom feeder from any league...and lost to New Bern 19-7 earlier...good luck with what you have left...I've got to go thump my chest...it always helps to practice...

    Teammugs,

Funny thing about Laney they finished near the BOTTOM of our league and still hung around with Middle Creek.... What do you think the top of our league would do? You triangle guys seem to be scared to travel too far from home to play a non-league game but then want to thump your chest at inflated records. Since 2006, we have been to Richmond twice, Purnell, Scotland, Pinecrest, East Wayne, SER, S. Durham, Cape Fear and Triton. Not afraid to travel... the same can never be said of any triangle school...

    teammugs...

We are fans of the team, we always look at the big picture and want to talk about future matchups. The players on the other hand are grounded, I assure you. When you have Bobby Curlings and Clay Jordan on your staff, you are in good hands. Of course we want a re-match with SC, who wouldn't?

CatDaddy38 - seems like New Bern and SC fans are busy lifting that 4A trophy this year while other teams are just playing ball...all this stuff about the triangle being weak and playing nobody may have had some sway prior to 2006...Garner and Leesville rip through their respective leagues and they do it because the league is weak (In your opinion) New Bern and SC do it and it's because they are the greatest thing since sliced bread playing in the toughest leagues in the state (like the SEC going 0 fer in the 1st round last year save SC, who had a great year, as did a little team called Page)New Bern and Havelock are the only teams from your area who have made news recently and NH pulled what appears now as a huge upset against SC early, while Laney couldn't hold a 14 point lead against a 'weak' Raliegh area team and was sent home as a result...spot Leesville, WFR, Wakefield, Garner,MCHS, Gibbons, Clayton,Knightdale, even Heritage(even though they are young) 14 points early in a game and see what you get...to quote Tom Petty "man it's such a drag when you're livin' in the past"...but the era of the triangle programs as losers and easy outs ended in 2007 when 2 teams from the Cap8 ALONE knocked out 3 unbeaten teams (including one of their own who could have beaten anyone in the East that year, WFR) on the road - and AFTER that they still were perceived as weak...maybe lbeck37439 can give you the skinny on that as far as 1 league taking out teams with records like that, but aside from 2008 which geography and great teams contributed to those maybe once in a lifetime finals I haven't seen anyone accomplish what the Cap8 did in 07...I could be wrong...

The only thing about Clayton I know is that that they run the Wing-T,and they run it well.New Hanover on the other hand I've seen in person and they are the"Truth".I say the Cats roll 35-14.

I'm sure I'm not the only one rooting for Gary Fowler from outside the Clayton fan base. Hopefully they can pull the upset Friday night.

I can see claytons offense grinding it out 3-4 yards at a time with the run game keeping nhhs offense of the field.. the key to this game is how well the sophmore qb for nh responds..... he seems to be hit or miss and when hes on like he was against nb for the most part.. nh is very dangerous!! I gotta give the the edge to NH!!! Good luck to both teams and GO BEARS!!!

New Hanover 8-9 against teams from around Raleigh since 1999

Im goin to give the edge to new hanover. They have played a tough schedule and 2that of the states best teams. It eill be the same old stuff for the raleigh schools. They never leave the area to play and that hurts them every year. I believe it may be close because claytons plan will be to keep new hanovers offense off the field. I think defense wins this game. So thats what i would looking at. Either way hopefully its a good game and you all wear each other down....lol. GO BEARS

But has New Hanover seen 3 backs in the backfield at the same time with over 1000 yards each this year? Clayton has seen speed in Garner, Knightdale, SER, and SJ. The defense will be ready as will the offense. This is going to be a pretty eveningly matched up game in my opinion. Cant wait to see it.

From the Greater Neuse??? Maybe Garner and they lost that one. Who else? Weak schedule will always be the triangle teams undoing. If you dont believe me just ask any of the New Bern fans on here... They will tell you.

yes Clayton has seen WR's with speed and Clayton handled them pretty good.

  • CatDaddy38 Nov 4, 2012

Better question is how will Clayton handle NH speed. They havent seen WR's like this.... Clayton is gonna do what they do and so is Hanover... The results will speak for themselves. On a side note Hanover as seen the wing T before and handled it very well.

I personally think that New Hanover could be in trouble in this game. Clayton is clicking on all cylinders right now. What is the opinion on how New Hanover to will handle the offense of Clayton.
