Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

Middle Creek: Keep Leesville's offense off of the field, keep your offense slow and steady. Work with the clock while still being effective. Defense needs to study film, pick up on the jet sweeps and different formations the Leesville offense runs. Smart and steady football will win the game.

Leesville Road: On the offensive side, keep the chains moving. Keep the Middle Creek defense sluggish and wear them down as the game progresses. Jam the inside on defense and frustrate their offense by shutting down their passing game with good one-on-one coverage.

What do you think each team should do to win?

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

Leesville stopping MC's run game and making them one dimensional by forcing them to throw on offense more than they want to...easier said than done since MC is the only team this season who gave Garner anything to think about...If MC has problems with Leesville's run game they will have problems period...and if the passing game opens up early that just makes thing more difficult for the D...two league champs throwing haymakers all night...the line play will dictate all of this...

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

True...opens up the game for both teams

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

This has the makings of a great game. Leesville's defense has shown that they can rise up against a great passing team(Wakefield) and against a very good run offense(WFR), but can it hold up against a very balanced attack in Middle Creek?

Middle Creek's defense held up for 3 quarters vs the tremendous running attack of Garner. Leesville will test them for 4 quarters as well.

Leesville needs to control the ball and keep the Middle Creek offense off of the field.

Middle Creek needs to push the pace. Get their high tempo offense rolling and tire out some of Leesville's 2 way stars, including Braxton who is making big plays on defense every week.

Could be another classic, reminiscent of the 2010 1st round OT slugfest.

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

Old...

I agree that this will be a slugfest. Keep in mind that Middle Creek put up 517 total yards against an excellent Garner Defense. Ironically, Garner put 517 total yards against Middle Creek. How often do teams have the same offensive output? Middle Creek was leading 21 to 14 heading into the 4th quarter. Middle Creek went for it at 4 th and 3 at Midfield because their defense was gassed. Garner stopped them, drove and scored. Middle Creek quickly fumbled on their next possession and Garner scored, Garner kicked off again and middle creek fumbled the kick off Garner scored. MC then went 3 and out and Garner returned the punt for a TD. Garner scored 3 touchdowns in 3 MINUTES!!!!!! GAME OVER!!! MC ended up losing this game by 17. The game was closer than the score indicated. However Garner was clearly the better team. They had the better D, the better special teams, the better coaching and were in better physical shape. MC lost 7 defensive players to cramps, it was a hot and humid night. Garner looked like they were ready to play another game while MC limped off the field. Without the turnovers Garner would still have won because they were the superior team. IF MC is lucky enough to meet Garner again, I think Garner will win again but the score will be more indicative off a slugfest rather than a 17 point bow out.

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

special teams and turnovers might be the key in this one.

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

A huge emphasis on turnovers. Middle Creek's QB David Salmon has only thrown two interceptions the entire year. If Leesville can be agressive on defense and force Middle Creek to pass the ball more than they need to, then they can increase their chances of forcing a turnover.

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

David has put up great numbers (at the end of the regular season his QB rating using the NFL formula was 116.7) but he does have a few more than 2 INTs. He has thrown for over 3000 yards, 34TDs and 7 INTs

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

I would like to clarify my last post. When I say that Garner has better coaching than MC I am not complaining or disrespecting the MC coaching staff because they have done a great job this season. I just believe that Garner has the best coaching staff in the state. Top to bottom they do a great job with their players. I have observed Garner over the past 10 years, great halftime adjustments and all their coaches are coaching up their players constantly during the game. We can all aspire to be the best but in life only a few will truly be the best.

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

Can't argue with Garner's coaching being great...But MC's coaches know a little bit about winning too...Salmon's numbers speak for themselves, he's having a great season, it helps to have talent around you too...

RE: Leesville Road @ Middle Creek

From comparing scores, Leesville seems to have a stronger defense, and the two seem to have pretty comparable offenses, but Leesville putting up 43 on Heritage and 36 on WFR is impressive. Special teams will be big and whoever wins the turnover battle will more than likely win Friday night. Having seen Middle Creek against Garner and a few Leesville games, I have to go with the Pride here, 42-24.
