I feel bad for the MC quarterback, he is a great kid and a great athlete. I wouldn't trade him for Connor Mitch to be honest with you. We would have lost several games this year without his heroics. Unfortunately last night he was off more than I've ever seen. He did however make some great plays like the 3rd and 25 completion after it looked like he was sacked. As human beings sometimes where hot and sometimes were not. We can only hope to be on our game when it's one and done in the playoffs. Last night was not our night! Good luck to LV!

Leesville definitely not a one man show. Not taking anything away from Berrios who got to the edge a couple of times when it looked like he had no chance but 24 was the game MVP in my mind. You can tell he focuses more on running back than linebacker. He was more of an athlete playing LB. The way our line changes up responsibility he was getting hit by linemen he didn't even see coming. Then he would stay on the field and get 3-5 yards after contact as a RB.

Number 44 on your team also played both ways but was the opposite. He looked like a LB who was put in on offense as a blocking back. The LR coaching staff definitely look for ways to keep their best players on the field.

Congrats to the Pride...made the key stops at the right time. MC a very good team, can't expect Leesville to shut them down totally. Pride can hang with Garner, but don't think they have enough.

Thanks...MC are great hosts and have a great atmosphere...I think I saw Lopez and Johnson in my sleep and they were still not going down...Lbeck was all over it about the TO's as they were killers all night...a lot of team speed on both teams...on to Garner, and who knows what that will bring...but Leesville will have to bring it's 'A' game which through 4 TO's and a costly penalty resulting in a nullified TD and a loss of down on 4th and goal - wasn't there last year (I'm sure you can understand that)...but this is now and taking care of the ball and keeping the Garner O off the field is the key...Berrios had 388 yards total against them last year...but as you can see with Bowen, Parker, Robinson and 'Elijah' #32 soph(2 ints) Leesville are not quite a 1 man show...and our DB's are pretty good, but sometimes get called for being too agreesive, but I'd rather have that than long TD receptions...a shame one team had to lose, but it could have gone either way...

Thanks for the Kudos teammugs and back at you. Leesville is a very good team. The turning point for the game was the spot you guys got on that 4th and 16. We had all the momentum and would have gone up by two scores with that stop. The official was behind the play and he ran up the field to make the spot. It looked like he ran to the first down chain instead of to the play. A horrible way to have momentum turned. That said, I was amazed at how well your players who never came off the field held up. Laney played their D1 recruits both ways as well but when they got behind they wore down. I was convinced that would get us the win again (two years ago you guys went for two in OT since we were more fresh) but the momentum swing seemed to give them extra legs. Your running back was still getting several yards after contact at the end of the game even though he played RB and LB on defense. What an incredible effort by the Pride. Best of luck to you to win it all.

too many stupid penalties kept 3 of those drives alive and once when Salmon was dead to rights inside his own 10 and the Leesville player got a little 'assist' from behind so Salmon could complete the pass and keep the drive alive...and I think the D stopped a couple of 4th downs tries but MC was never going to punt on the last time they had the ball...we got 4 ints but could have had another that hit Braxton right in the hands...Salmon was off on his passes all night (high) but I didn't think he was bothered that much by the rush although we got him a couple of times...Lopez fumble helped and all in all I'd rather punt the ball than turn it over because they were costly and the ints pretty badly thrown...the two backs ran as well as any have against the D....one key point in the game was when MC returned a kick to the 21 and all they got was a FG...not too many stops bu either team but the TOs made the difference...and penalties at bad times on O and D hurt Leesville on some drives holding Personal foul after and facemask call by MC...I think both teams would have liked to be sharper, but it was an exciting game, I have no clue why Leesville kept giving up short fields on the KO's , but if you want to give a god team like MC good field position you pay the price...the 2 running backs Lopez and # 4 were the best tandem we've seen...it was a good hard fought game but as I said last year against Garner you can't turn the ball over and expect to win at this level in the POD at least...MC has a good and talented team, but the QB (having seen him twice last year PC and Cary) just didn't look like he was on top of his game unless Leesville secondary if=s better than I thought...good game - kmagnusson MC just came up a little bit short, but no quit in that team I'm glad we won't see them again until maybe next year...kudos to your team...

Middle Creek throws 4 interceptions and a fumble. LV has no turnovers.....BALL SECURITY....Middle Creek Loses by a touchdown. Middle Creek didn't punt the WHOLE GAME!!! I have personally never seen a game where one team doesn't punt. LV punted several times. Team mugs, have you ever seen a Leesville game where your opponent didnt punt? No offense but MC torched your defense. LV moved the ball with ease on the MC defense but I expected that. Holly Springs put up 46 on MC but Mc put up 66. If MC had a stout D they would be dangerous. I am most upset that one official moved the ball back back a foot after the other ref spotted it. MC ended up 2 inches short on a 4 th down play with 2 minutes left and that decided the game. The refs should never decide a game, especially a playoff game. I don't know when I've been more upset. Let the kids decide it. I am not saying MC would of won but we will never know for sure, BUT LET THE KIDS DECIDE IT ON THE FIELD!!!!

Middle Creek gave it all they had, but Leesville was just too much for them. It was hard seeing those boys walking back to the locker room in tears after such a tough loss, but they had a great season and should be proud of that. Good luck to Leesville in the test of the playoffs.

I hate to make a prediction between these two teams at this point of the season. The only dissadvantage I see for Leesville is not having home field advantage. However, I believe that Leesville is too strong in the end and will overcome any adversity and win this game. At this point, Leesville is the strongest team in the Triangle, until I see otherwise. I may be eating my words after tonight but that is my feeling for now. They are playing well. Good luck Pride! I have to root for the Cap 8 first, and Triangle second. Sorry MC but if you make it out of the Triangle bracket, I am with you all the way.

Leesville's D has been the backbone of this team all year...particularly early while the offense was trying to coalesce and become a unit on that side of the ball...this team started slowly and the D played the major part by keeping other teams off the scoreboard early in games...If the D stays consistent tonight Leesville will win...

Team mugs I work with a Leesville supporter so I know what MC is in for. In the playoffs you are going to play top teams eventually, might as well get it over with. The loser of this game can still walk away proud of the season they had but it's sad for the Senior who is not going to play at the next level, this will be there last football game, life is tough sometimes.

Yeah you are correct initially I didn't want to see them early in the POs, back when I thought the pod system might make sense this year, but now here we are but at least the 2nd round, better than the 1st but now you take what you can...

Why does everyone keep making reference to one team or the other looking ahead on this thread and the Garner/WF thread. With the magnitude of these games, and the fact that you're out if you lose, I think it's laughable that anyone could even consider that one of these teams is looking ahead.

  • kmagnusson Nov 8, 2012

Team mugs, I am new to posting but I have been reading these forums for several years. Big Pockets is a Harnett Central fan and he was talking smack back when HC was playing for the state championship and lost a 14 to13 heart breaker. I went to that championship game at Carter Finley stadium. HC played MC in the 3rd round that year and they beat the creek 14 to 8. Big Pockets was talking smack the next season when HC got off to a great start then tanked. I wasn't disrespecting him I was trying to be funny. I am familiar with his propensity to pick the wrong team. If you couple that with an old post you made where you said MC is a team you didn't want to face in the playoffs, I understand if you may be nervous about this matchup. The best team doesn't always win!!!

teammugs if you are coming from N Raleigh then I suggest driving through town and eating downtown. Or exit off the belt line at Crossroads and pick from a million places as you take Holly Springs Rd down to 1010.

With two very good teams I think the difference in this one is a very underrated place to play in Mustang stadium over the past four years only one road team has went in there and came out with a win and that was Garner twice.

  • footballislife46 Nov 8, 2012

Middle Creek needs to hold LR to under 28 points. If they get that done, I believe that MC can pull away with it. But they can't look ahead to Garner, or Wakefield. I believe that Coach Castellano has these boys well prepeared, but it is ultimately up to the players. If MC can slow down Braxton Berrios & Co. I believe that the 'Stangs can slide by and great ready to go to the 3rd round.

    GO MUSTANGS

Your choices are, you can eat crow with Big Pockets who just posted a comment, or choose someplace on the way to eat because MC is surrounded by subdivisions. There are some decent restaurants at the corner of Kildaire Farm Rd and Ten Ten in the shopping Plaza. That location is on your way to the school and is only a couple miles away. Good luck to you and your team. I'm hoping for an exciting game with no injuries.

MC has self destructed twice against Garner, last year and this year. As a fan it is extremely painful to watch. I would love to see a game between LV and MC with no turnovers or penalties for either team. A good clean game where the best team wins. I dont want to leave the stadium with a bunch of what ifs.

Leesville appears to still be hungry since they weren't (according to various sources some on here early on)going to be able to repeat as Cap8 champs and have a history of early exits in the Playoffs, plus after a good season, they played nobody so they get a 3 seed and must travel for the 2nd round, even though they are unbeaten...I look for another tough game on Friday....Leesville's D isn't too bad...

I would not go as far as saying it will be 42 - 14 or lookout Butler here comes Leesville but I have to go with Leesville in this one by at least 2 TDs. However, I would not be surprised at all if Leesville is playing for the state championship.

I recall Middle Creek being down 3 touchdowns to Leesville in the first half of the 2010 playoff game before MC came back and won in double ot. I will make a prediction, if Leesville beats MC 42 to 14, it wont be look out Garner here comes Leesville, it will be look out Butler here comes Leesville.

I actually think that it could be 42-14 for either team, depending on how the defenses show up. However, I feel like the game will be very competitive and could come down to the lst possession.

Leesville 42 - Middle Creek 14 if Leesville clears the bench in the third quarter like they did with Heritage. Leesville has allowed 14 points per game this season but almost all of the points were with the back up players in. First team D has crushed Wakefield and WFR. They will continue to dominate and the offense will open up the playbook.
