lol byron you're horrible. I'm not even going to waste my time typing a long response to you. You obviously don't understand the game of football as much as you think you do.

I sort of wish Hillside would have won. Then we could have had a Battle of the Bands between Hillside and EE Smith...very entertaining for a halftime show

Hillside does have a incredible band. 2 years ago in the Eastern Championship game, I was rocking out during the game! Not so much after!

By the way Wiseman, Hillside's Tight End received the Pac 6 All Conference Award. Strange for someone you labeled "LAZY".

First of all Wiselessman, King was a better coach before the Championship. He was hungry. Now that he has it and everyone telling him "he's all that", he isn't as creative. Number two, There has never been a time in football history where play action out of the shotgun is more affective than under center. Number three, the Tight End is not lazy. That kid is a good player. I never said he was NFL material or even college for that matter. But the kid has talent. And don't talk about him dropping passes considering the whole all the dropped passes from all the Wide Receivers and Running Backs this season. Dropping passes doesn't mean a player is lazy. It means that he needs to work on his mechanics and that's the coach’s job. Obviously the coaching staff isn't doing what it takes. And if he was lazy, he wouldn't be starting because a lazy player wouldn't block either. Not just drop passes. So before you condemn someone’s child, you should take a long look at yourself and figure out your own clues. Number three, just because Nas is your best friend doesn't make him a better player. If he was better, he would have been starting. And Donte doesn't have the speed to get outside from the pistol. King will have to change up and do more under center to adjust to the bruising backs style of play. Now that's not to say he can't play from the pistol but as a starter and feature back, he won't last the season trying to beat quick linebackers to the outside. Running up the middle of the two gaps may be affective but that won't last against team with coaches that make adjustments all during the game. Number four, you say "support or shut up!" and not to coach from the stand or a keyboard. Strange considering you're on your keyboard right now shouting your thoughts just like everyone else on this forum. Maybe you should put more time into learning how not to be a hypocrite than trying to blast people for voice there opinions. How about that?

What I think he meant was that Coach King and his play calling got a little complacent after the championship.

I can't believe you said Coach King was a better coach before he won the state championship meaning that he started declining the year they won the state championship lol. Yeah dude you have no clue lol

@byronreid what are yo talking about??? You sound crazy dude!! They used the tight end this season! He had a habit for dropping passes, fumbling, not running precise routes, not playing up to his size, and not being physical!! So until he showed improvement (which he didn't) why should King keep streesing the fact on getting him the ball??? The kid is talented but lazy and didn't show up everyday for work! The coaches did everything they could to get that kid to turn the switch on and he never did! So know what you're talking about when it comes to him. The next thing is, Hillside runs a Pistol offense and they play action pass out of it ALL THE TIME!! So what are you talking about they never play action pass?? I don't know who you are but you are obviously clueless and yeah you should definitely keep your job saying stuff like "No room for play action in the shotgun", thats the most ridiculous statement i've ever heard! If you haven't noticed the game of football is has evolved and more teams run their offense from the shotgun now on all levels from pop warner to the pro's and you think they aren't using play action??? Get real! I don't know what adjustments coach King will make to the offense this offseason being that a more pure passer in Nas Ferguson will be the Quarterback but I feel like King will definitely pass the ball more and then let Donte (#5) wear people down with his bruising running style. I'm excited for next season and we don't need people coaching from the stands or the keyboard. Support or shut up!

Most people forget that Hillsides best Tight End graduated early and couldn't play for Hillside. But the Tight End that took his place was very good. The only problem was we didn't utilize him. We is usually open most of the time. Mainly because team view the game films and they sleep on the Tight End because he rarely get's the ball. It's every game I see him open and either we throw else where or the Quarterback waits to long and gets pressure and either runs or throws a bad pass. Hillside's second Running Back is powerful and runs great routes. We have never ran a two back set keeping defense guessing who will get the ball. And we're always in shotgun formation. No room for play action in the shotgun so that limits a good handful or two of plays that aren't being used that could feature the Tight End or use the wide receivers speed. Hillside has always had fast Wide Receivers. I would love to see some of these wrinkles added to the game plan for next season.

If I didn't have a great job, maybe I would. Currently I wouldn't want to take a step back in pay. King is a good coach. He was a better coach before winning the Championship. He was creative and always kept his foot on the throat. Being a former Hillside quarterback, I would expect King to not be passive like the coaching staff was when he was the quarterback. The one thing I can say about King is he has created a football program over at Hillside. And now you have more parents and alumni coming to the games than student which is a shame that the students don't come out for there team. Not to say that no students come to the game, but the amount rarely out weigh the parents and alumni.

SE parents says that there were several subjective calls both ways. There were two passes dropped by DH that were TD's. We beat a more atheletic team which dosen't happen a lot is High School football. Our team and fans were treated with respect and HS has a lot to be proud of. I was amazed at the talent not only of the team but the band was awesome.

hillside should have just took a knee and take the game into overtime. Give SE Guiford there credit but blame HHS coach King for this loss. Bad call descion which cost them the season.

Actually Jamalbuto, in the second half they didn't try to pass much. Only once they got in extremely long situations. At that point the defense knows you have to pass and they have there ears pinned back. As for cnut's comment. Dude, if they didn't learn and make changes from the Scotland County massacre; what makes you think they'll learn anything from this loss?

Each year teams review what they did do right and what they didn't do right as a team and coaching staff and they try to correct those things. It the norm
all teams and coaching staffs do a review of themselves at the end of the season and they try to improve on those things that they did not do right and
improve on things that they did do right.

It does not matter what everybody thinks what they should have done.
What matters is that Hillside loss. They are not playing anymore.Their season is over.Only things that matters is that I am hoping that players that are left
remember this game for the rest of year and make it a ralling point of doing some serious off season hard work. Also I hope the coaching staff remember how this season was and start looking to correct what they did not do right as a team and staff for next football season.

    Question byron.

Do you think HHS should have passed the ball more or is there something specific you think should have been done that was not?

  • byronreid Nov 4, 2012

Coaching in deed lost that game for Hillside. Although there were mental mistakes early. Dropped passes wide open. One for a sure touchdown. But the second half was in the coach. He never tried to score in the second half. He kept running the same tired running plays that Southeast Guilford was on to and loosing 3-5 yard each time. The Hillside defense was on point all game long so it seemed to me that the coach tried to sit on a 7 point lead. Who does that? Only a fool would do that. And as the saying goes, a fool and his money are soon departed. In this case it was a Hillside win taken away.

Just give credit where credit is due Southeast Guilford is a very well coach team. They were prepared to go the distance.
The Key is coaching and being prepared to play every game and every single down.Hopefully we see some imporvement in those areas next football season.
But with Hillside you never know.

Don't feel bad Hillside, last year SE Guilford knocked us (Northern) out of the playoffs in the first round @ home.

And I agree with rachorton - even if Hillside escaped with a win, they would have went up against a very aggressive Smith team and lost decisively. They're a darkhorse contender and could give Scotland fits in the 3rd round.

    rachorton,

It wasn't even about hype. those kids played their hearts out tonight. I saw no indication that they just took things for granted tonite. It wasn't even about discipline, we had no where NEAR as many penalties in this game.

This was about GAME PLANNING AND STRATEGIZING a way to win a tight game. Thats it. Nothing more. Nothing less.

  • rachorton Nov 2, 2012

Hillside was listening to the hype instead of taking care of business. I knew this game was a trap game because Hillside struggled against Northern. Even if they had won this game they would have lost to a very hot EE Smith. Hillside has good players but they lacked discipline and coaching which contributed to them being knocked out early. The game is played smart and disciplined on the field which contributes to wins. Regroup Hillside and come back next year without all of the hype and chatter and play the game on the field the right way.

    Bruh. YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!

On the real, I don't know what that was in the second half. HHS ran the same running plays all night. SEG blitzed and stopped it pretty much the whole second half. No adjustments seemed to be made on Offense for HHS. Defense played their hearts out thought.

    But man. What the @#$%@!@#

I tried to tell everybody. Another slow start. Dropping wide open passes, fumbling, etc in the first half. The coaching. Uhmph! They kept running the same running palys over and over loosing on average 4-5 yards each time. Who tries to sit on a 7 point lead for a whole half of football? They got exactly what they deserved. Coaching lost that game. I'm mad as......!!!

Hillside has way to much hype lol. They are good because they play weak teams in the pac 6. when they played good schools they were blown out twice and barely won. All the Athletes in Durham go to hillside because they won a state championship and think their gonna win one every year, its kinda hard for other teams in Durham to compete when students decide to transfer. I'll be suprised if they make it out the 1st round. 2nd round is a def LOSS!
