RE: Wakefield vs WFR
Mjjohnson5573: "My comments last week about Wakefields D was that they were overrated and slow (many posters from Wakefield stated how great they were earlier in the year). Tell me their not." Mj, I did not see WF as being too slow last Friday against WFR. Giving up only 17 points to a team that was averaging 40 points game I would think the D did pretty well. You say that WF fans were bragging about how good their defense is. I do not recall reading this but if they did what is wrong with a fan being ambitious about their respective teams? I have seen several post saying how stout WFR defense is and how they will blitz and shutdown WF offense and make their Mr. Mitch scramble and be erratic. Now that WF put up 33 points, and could have very well been more, would it be fair to say that WFR D is overrated and slow? Or, when Mr. Berrios comes to town and if he and his teammates hang 40 to 50 points would it be fair to say WFR D is slow and overrated. Mj, I am a CAP 8 fan and personally know at least one if not more players on every single team in the CAP 8. I am a fan of them all and I want to see them all do well. The point I am trying to make is that these boys are high school players. They are not professionals. Cheer for your team, embellish a little about how good you really think they are. As a fan there is nothing wrong with that because there will eventually be a game that will come about and define the reality of how good a team really is. However, you should not criticize the players or other teams especially when your team has yet to face a challenging opponent like Leesville. Right now, in my opinion Leesville is the best team in the Conference and will more than likely win the Conference out right. Does that mean that I am going to criticize WF or WFR players or other teams when and if Leesville blows them away? Absolutely not! These teenage boys work too hard to be criticized. The reality of the situation is, can any of the defenses in this area stop Butler, New Bern, Scotland, Mallard Creek, Richmond Co., etc? Until we can confidently say that our teams are capable of stopping State and National powerhouses from NC then how good is any of our defenses. Winning the CAP 8 is good but it would be better if we were building our team to compete for a state championship.

I get what your talking about for the most part and I agree with some of your points. However this forum is driven by opinions from a wide range of people. Some facts get mixed into those opinions. Your original post directed at me was about me making excuses for WFR losing. That was not the case as I stated. You took issue with post that I had put out before the game. In those posts I did not mention any of the players on Wakefields defense by name when I stated my opinion that they where overrated and slow. Anytime someone analyzes a team objectively something less than positive may be said. My question to you is why target me I have seen many other posters with less than positive comments about some aspect of both WFR and Wakefields team. By the way....my opinion as well is that Leesville is the better team in the cap8 from what I've seen. I'll be rooting for WFR to knock them off but, I'm capable of being objective.
