I played linebacker for Sanderson from 82-86 and had an opportunity to be a volunteer coach in 2003..I think the biggest problem is the coaches cant get the 7-8 division 1 prospects walking the halls of SHS to even come out for the team...case in point Hillside High in Durham had been terrible for years but the new coaching staff did something im not sure what to get the players to go out for the team instead of chillin in the halls saying playing organized ball isnt cool...you know those clowns that rather play Madden than go outside and play..sandersons athletic dept probably has the deepest pockets of any public school in the triangle..but the coaches simply cant or wont get the best prospects to go out for the team...BOTTOM LINE...theyve sucked for years and ive tried to support them ill go to a game once a year but it just upsets me seeing the product on the field.

60tough...did you wear a helmet when you played at Sanderson? Do you seriously think that there are 7-8 division 1 prospects just walking the halls and not playing because of the coaching? There were only 7-8 division 1 players in the whole county last year. To suggest that Sanderson has 7-8 that aren't even playing is ignorant.

I would argue that every school in Wake County has athletes with potential walking the halls not interested in athletics simply because of the time commitment and discipline needed. I would venture a guess that there are talented individuals who could play college sports (not just football) but choose not to. Winning, in most cases, solves that. Kids don't want to be called losers and want to put in hard work for no reward. In order for Sanderson to get those kids on the field, they have to start winning first.

l179473..i didnt say future NFL all-pros but definitely D1 prospects, you sound as if you were perhaps in the band..take a walk through the halls of any 4-A school and youll see plenty of potential athletes that have no interest in organized sports..look at a list of the teams always near the top of the rankings and the one thing they have in common is they get all the horses on the field....Garner..Richmond Co..most of the Fayetteville schools... another team that is experiencing what Sanderson is experiencing is Northern Durham.

well its been going on a long time at sanderson might need to look at the middle schools that feed into sanderson.
