Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
Since the announcement of Brian Rimpf as Jack Britt's new football coach, there has been some backlash from the Britt community. LET IT GO, Bailey is gone. Give Rimpf a fair shot.
RE: Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
They had a coach in-waiting with Scott Barbour, who is a hometown guy and has been with the program since the school opened. Instead, they take a guy with 2 years experience coming from a team that has went 7-5 and 5-6 (I believe) in those 2 years. Although I agree with you on giving Rimpf a fair shot, I can also see the speculation with the move...
RE: Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
I can understand how the Britt community feels about Coach Barbour, He obviously is well like and well respected in that community. My question was he some how told that he would be the next coach or is that what everyone assumed? I'm sure Coach Barbour will be a great coach where ever he ends up.
RE: Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
I think it was automatically assumed he would be the next coach considering he is Bailey's brother in law. A lot of speculation about that incident, but naturally there would be. Rimpf is an old teammate of mine, and he can get the job done. There has been so much said about his inexperience. Bailey didn't have any prior head coaching experience yet Britt took a chance on him. Bailey is a great coach...give Rimpf the same respect.

Every Head Coach has to start somewhere. Good Luck Coach Rimpf
RE: Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
There are numerous young assistant coaches who if given the right opportunity will succeed as a head coach. I applaud Jack Britt for hiring a young talent who they believe might be with the program for a long time going forward.
RE: Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
Pay your dues as a coach and you get a chance. Don't pay your dues and you will never be accepted. This is a fact all young assistants (including myself at that age) do not understand, and many never do. I feel sorry for Brian. He thinks he knows what he's facing but he has no idea of the hail storm of dookie about to be dumped on his head. He will suffer for the extremely poor hire. You don't believe it now, but you will later. Lesson #1 is going to be a tough one for young padawan.
RE: Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
talking about paying youe dues, how can a coach who has been with the program for years be overlooked for a outside hire, someone who the kids respect and admire, has ties with the community and the school but doesn't get the job, makes no sense to me.
RE: Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
There is a lot more to the story that you do not know. It is something that shouldn't be shared on the boards though.
RE: Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
no. it's better to hide lies.
RE: Hey Britt, Give Rimpf a chance.
You are correct. Naturally when a situation like this comes up a lot of rumors are thrown around. I think it is better to let them stay rumors than to convey "conspiracy theories" when no one really knows why. It would have made more sense for Barbour to be the coach, but obviously there are some reasons why he was not selected. When Knotts left Independence, they hired from within. When Newsome left Butler, they hired from within.
