Coach Nixon, You will be missed.

Glenn Nixon, former Clayton High School football coach, passed away this morning. This man made a huge impact on my life and the lives of many student athletes. The world lost a great man today.

I remember how hard it was to beat one of his teams. I loved the 2A Conference in the eighties with Clayton, Fuquay, Zebulon, Erwin, WFR, Bunn, Franklinton, Louisburg, South Granville and North Johnston. Coach Nixon's Comets were always at or near the top in football. Sympathy to his family and to the Clayton community.
Also would appreciate prayers for the family of Jacob Spain and for the East Wake family this week. Jacob was a fine young man and a starter on the O-line of East Wake's JV football team this past fall. He was looking forward to varsity football next year. Alas, Jacob died Sunday, very suddenly. His visitation is tonight and funeral tomorrow. He was a terrific young man.

Prayers for the Nixon And Spain families, I knew Jacob and always saw him as a wonderful child very kind hearted and respectful kid.

I've never met Coach Nixon but have definitely seen and felt the impact he has made on Clayton HS program as well as the Youth football program. I got to see his Grandson coach West Rowan in their 3rd straight 3A championship and is now the HC at North Rowan, I would love to see him back at Clayton someday.
