RE: Wing T football in the 4A/4AA division
Cantbustem
You are right WFR and FV are sucessful but if both programs want to get pass sucessful and become a powerhouse they have to do something different besides run run run.
RE: Wing T football in the 4A/4AA division
dfmlythr - can't argue with you based on results, one thing though when WFR and FV play each other the game flies by...
RE: Wing T football in the 4A/4AA division
In reference to Bob Paroli winning the state title in 2008...he played against his old school Douglas Byrd....a running team....great win...but he didn't have to worry about the pass at all playing Byrd.
RE: Wing T football in the 4A/4AA division
Butler ran it some against WFR and ran it pretty good.
RE: Wing T football in the 4A/4AA division
That same year WFR ran it pretty good against Garner in the playoffs.
RE: Wing T football in the 4A/4AA division
piratefball172- I agree. Byrd was a run heavy team that year, but I'm sure 71st played some teams that threw in the playoffs.
RE: Wing T football in the 4A/4AA division
are we alittle touchy panamajack. Yes they did,and the year before that they did too,but we know what happened that year some of the starters were still playing after the game was in hand.
RE: Wing T football in the 4A/4AA division
True iluvdefense....it just seems like lately the majority of the state championship teams have been multifaceted. Dating back since the start of 2000, I would have to say Seventy First was the only wing T/flexbone team to win a 4A/4AA title. There have been plenty of spread option attacks, but those offenses still threw the ball at 30% of the time. Dating back to Independence's title run, Greenville Rose title run, New Bern's championship, Butler's titles, Hillside, Scotland County, and Richmond.
