RE: Dematha, Md vs. Hillside
@hsmedia
well said. I see Hillside having these in the regular season soon. Maybe in 2014, when the new PAC 6 begins.
Good Job Hornets!

Not sure I understand what you are saying?
Hillside is playing DeMatha this fall, as in this August. They don't have wait until 2014 or anything of that sort. This isn't a scrimmage, it's a game.
RE: Dematha, Md vs. Hillside
National exposure for kids, National Exposure for the school HHS! As they stay competitive and take care of business against these types of opponents ESPN games could a possibility. In the DMV, DeMatha an all boys school reigns supreme in nearly all high school sports. DeMatha has make up a BCS school... You're gonna see multiple lineman standing at least 6'4 and above. A few 6'7s as well. Last yr in Elijah Brooks' first season they didn't see traditional success they saw with McGregor who is indeed now at Gilman... McGregor's team posted a combined record of 278-40-3 and won 17 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) championships. He is the fourth-winningest coach in Maryland high school football history. More than 350 of McGregor's former players have gone on to receive NCAA Division I football scholarships - traditional success I'm referring to.
Basketball - wise, DeMatha has produced; Keith Bogans, Joe Forte, Quinn Cook, Victor Oladipo, Sidney Lowe & Dereck Whittenberg, Jerain & Jerami Grant (Horace Grant's nephews and Harvey Grant's sons), Danny Ferry, Mike Brey and were coached by the legendary Morgan Wooten.
Football - wise, they've produced; Brian Westbrook, Josh Wilson (Redskins), Derek Wake (Miami Dolphins), Byron Westbrook to name a few.
They compete in the powerful WCAC who consist of Gonzaga (Nate Britt - UNC), Bishop O'Connell (Kendall Marshall), Good Counsel - #2 Football program on the east coast (Stephon Diggs), Paul IV - #1 Basketball Team in USA Today, etc.
This is a GREAT chance and opportunity for Durham & HHS to stand up and represent as HHS takes steps to get recognized on the National level!! Although it's just ONE game I'm excited for the matchup!
RE: Dematha, Md vs. Hillside
DeMatha is great competition for Hillside. They have fallen off the past few seasons in terms of football, but they do have a storied athletic as CoachK2 mentioned. As an alum of Oxon Hill High in MD, I have a genuine disdain for private schools such as DeMatha. I just hope Hillside doesn't get caught up in the DeMatha mystique. This should be a good game!
RE: Dematha, Md vs. Hillside
@durhamfb
I meant to say "more of these". 2014 is in reference to having less PAC 6 teams when ECH and SD leaves. Especially now that we know GH and PC wont be joining the PAC 6.
RE: Dematha, Md vs. Hillside

I'd imagine that most of the Durham schools will continue to schedule Southern in non-conf games and if ECH is staying in the conf then it looks like it will be a break even situation from where they are currently. Although, it's an improvement as compared to having PC and GH in the conf as you said - where they'd effectively lose at least one spot scheduling wise.
Been good to see Southern and Hillside over the past year take the initiative and/or work with folks trying to make these games happen. Hillside last year with Cane Bay and now this year with DeMatha and Southern playing Dunbar at home last year and now traveling to DC to play them this year.

RE: Dematha, Md vs. Hillside/Towell Boy
What Hillside and Southern Durham are during are the things that NB and J.H. Rose need to do. Go outside the state and play some top teams. There are alot of them in GA. and Fla.
RE: Dematha, Md vs. Hillside
It would be great for a lot of teams to do so. North Carolina Best Teams should always play South Carolina best teams. Espn currently shows a tape delay shrine bowl. Im pretty sure they would do endowment jamboree with Hillside playing a Byrnes or New Bern playing Coach Knotts team in South Carolina. Call it the battles of the Carolina's. The state of North Carolina need to show that they have arrived when it comes to High School football.
RE: Dematha, Md vs. Hillside/hsmediamember
I agree there are some good players in NC and should have been playing out of state teams for years. I know alot of good 5A/6A teams in Ga. that will be willing to play them and even help with expenses what more can a team ask for? The problem I think is that alot of coaches especially the ones that been around for awhile are so comfortable in their element and don't want to do anything difference. While NC don't have spring football practice like other states in the south,it would save alot of time and work when they actually start practice in the summer. Politic and money.
RE: Dematha, Md vs. Hillside
Much respect to Hillside and Southern Durham.This Scotland fan will be pulling for you guys against Dematha and Dunbar.
