Early picks for the Eastern Championships
I know its early, but here are my early predictions for the Eastern Champions this year.
4AA- Could be either Jack Britt, Richmond (depending on where they land), I like Garner's chance of reloading, Wakefield, and I like what the Cary Imps put on the field. New Hanover returns a strong squad as well.
4A- I still feel it is a Hillside-New Bern race
3A or 3AA- Sorry but Northeast Guilford will repeat. Havelock returns a strong nucleus, and you obviously can't leave Cleveland out. Returning their whole roster practically...ouch.
2A or 2AA- Until somebody unseats them Tarboro High...all day every day
1A or 1AA- Ayden Grifton returns a lot of good players, but Goldsboro is a sleeper with their air raid attack. Unheard of in 1A football

Wouldn't be surprised if Wakefield is representing the east in the 4AA state championship. If their defense can hold teams to about 28-35 points, they could very well run the table to at least the East championship. Mitch + Fila (didn't want to butcher his name) are that good.

4AA Garner
4A Hillside returns a pool of talent will be hard to defeat
3A/3AA N. Guilford
2A South Granville
1A Goldsboro

Its Northern Guilford, not Northeast (they went out in the first round). Also, Page will be in the West, not the East (title of thread is Eastern Championship).
I'd look for the usual contenders in 4AA.
Hillside and New Bern, yep. Havelock, yep. Good choices with all of them.

Talked with a HHS coach yesterday, they r very excited. I like them this year along with Page. Sorry I can't see SG in the 2A, they aren't that strong. If OHS can't stay healthy I think they can have a great long run in the 3A. Time will tell for all.

For what my understanding is that Garner will need a good running back and WR to be back to where they were last year. I don't think the ones coming back are going to be able to hold their own.

If you've got a good O line you've got the basis for a good running attack...Garner's always had talented athletes...follow your blockers and keep moving forward...Wakefield should be loaded...Britt as usual...oh and we can't count Rocky Mount out of the 3A...those who follow this thread know what I mean...

@letthemplay, what do you know about SG? Did they lose a lot from last years team?
