What Green Hope and Panther Creek Really Won Today

What Green Hope and Panther Creek Really Won Today

Since the NCHSAA released the new conferences obviously certain schools had a problem with realignment. Change is not something people like to accustom themselves with. We've read numerous articles and message board readings about Green Hope and Panther Creek desire about staying in the Tri-9 and today they were granted their wish. There were articles and suggestive reasoning that those two schools wanted to stay in their conference because of rivalry affiliation and kids playing against kids they went to Middle School with. (Wake County has school of choice) But that's a totally different topic. Then you have people with an educated guess suggest its a racial component or WE are better then them stance. Which hey maybe true but really lets hope not.
So today once the appeal was granted I sat back and did some research to find out what did Panther Creek and Green Hope win and what did the PAC 6 Lose.

Now this information I researched was purely based on Panther Creek and the Mileage within their conference of travel. Green Hope and Panther Creek Non Conference schedule in Basketball and Football.
So here we GO

Green Hope and Panther Creek Common Opponents were Leesville-14.17 Miles
Sanderson HS-18.13 Miles and Jordan HS 11.06 Miles. Add or Subtract 2.45 Miles because that's the difference between Green Hope and Panther Creek according to Map Quest.

In Football Green Hope Played Smith Field- 51.72 Miles and in Basketball Wilson Hunt 65.99
In Football Panther Creek Played Sanderson, Leesville, and Jordan. Basketball they played WFR-31.51 miles and Heritage 29.10 Miles according to Mapquest.

Conference Mileage
Athens-18047 Holly Springs 16.22 Apex 8.72 Fuquay 19.06 Middle Creek 16.71 Lee County 40.07 Cary 10.13 and as I mentioned above Green Hope- 2.45
Pac 6 Conference had Panther Creek and Green Hope been denied today. East Chapel Hill - 16.60 If they would of stayed in the PAC 6 Hillside- 9.55, Jordan-11.06 Person 46.02 Northern 22.16 and Riverside 21.67

RE: What Green Hope and Panther Creek Really Won Today

Now you say what does this mileage means or how does this prove anything? Well it's the only definite number we had to find some sense to each side argument. Remember Panther Creek and Green Hope were stating they wanted to keep the rivalries and kids growing up playing against one another. The other side of the fence were stating that Panther Creek and Green Hope were better then the people in Durham. Either way the mileage is what tells the story.
Obviously Panther Creek and Green Hope are rivals. I would think Panther Creek and Middle Creek maybe rivals as well especially in Football. In large I feel the Tri-9 is the best football conference in the triangle area as far as competitive balance but the administrators didn't argue that point. How could they considering Wake County holds itself as a premiere county when comes to Education.

Here is where Green Hope and Panther Creek lost in the view of most people on this message board in the way they approach their appeal.

Had Green Hope and Panther Creek went to the PAC 6 they would save money mileage wise and still have an opportunity to play Wake County Rival Schools. Panther Creek rival is Green Hope now I'm going to say Fuquay, Apex, Middle Creek, and Cary are also their rival. That still leaves them with a football schedule to schedule one more opponent because you can have up to 11 games. That leaves them opportunity to play either Leesville or Sanderson. That seems like a nice schedule plus any scrimmage game or 2. Green Hope could play the same schedule and still make their 51 Mile trip to SSS in football or basketball trip to Wilson Hunt of 65 Miles. Panther Creek could still travel in BBall to WFR 31.51 miles o Heritage 29.10 Miles. Which at this point in Bball are not rivalries and I doubt those kids went to middle school together. I did this research today to Prove that yes Green Hope and Panther Creek did win something today and that was unnecessary gas mileage

RE: What Green Hope and Panther Creek Really Won Today

Did they really "win" anything if everyone is against them?
Why do we suppose ECH sat on this information? Two denied appeals go by and they sit back (probably laughing) knowing their numbers were wrong? "Something's Rotten in the State of Denmark!"
Oh, and for those that think PC and GH think they are better than you....you are mistaken. There is also no racism there or any other "not nice" things you would like to throw in. They like good athletes and I've heard students praise many Durham athletes throughout the years. I would not have known that "Hillside produces great football players" if I didn't hear it from some of the students. They don't talk down on them. Why they have this "stigma" against them is confusing. Let's all set an example for the kids that everyone needs to be treated with respect. We won't regret it when their generation takes over.

RE: What Green Hope and Panther Creek Really Won Today

I understand your point spongebob square pants but is sure does look like classism to me. You have to look at it from the PAC-6 point of view and Durham's point of view. That were the respect will start from the bullcity. I don't know why we are not talking about the lack of respect that people in the triangle have for Durham.

Now as far as East Chapel Hill numbers---shame on you---we all know that they were 4A. This entire debate could have been avoided if they didn't attempt to fudge numbers. That's were our angry should turn towards.

RE: What Green Hope and Panther Creek Really Won Today

What about the rivalry with HHS and S Durham, they no longer will play for a conf championship against one another. No one seems to think about that. But oh we'll the rich got what they wanted.

RE: What Green Hope and Panther Creek Really Won Today

@bullcity I would agree with what you have said.

Also I would want to know why ECH sat on this information.(HMMMMMHHMMMM). But back to PC & GH let's make no mistake if it weren't for the fact that ECH numbers were incorrect GH & PC would be in the PAC6. My point is a human realignment committee and a computer program thought it would be best for these two 2 schools to move into the PAC6. Every argument I've heard from the wake county side really didn't wash with me. So, when SpongeBob says .." Oh, and for those that think PC and GH think they are better than you....you are mistaken. There is also no racism there or any other "not nice" things you would like to throw in."

I would say your clearly mistaken, I would say read some of the comments made on this very board. To me and quite a few other people some comments Indicated something other than keeping the neighborhood kids together was the motivation. (one comment from a parent mentioned not going to the games in Durham)…Are you serious who would do that or why….. Maybe you SpongeBob believed in your argument without race or class being a factor, but clearly that wasn't the case for all of the supporters. Anyway I'm actually glad that they won't be coming to the PAC6, but we have learned allot about our Wake county neighbors and what they think of us

I'm sure HHS & SHS will still play just not for a conf. championship but they will still play and you already know what they will still both bring it....

RE: What Green Hope and Panther Creek Really Won Today

Just heard that ECH is goin down to 3a and not staying jn the PAC6 they didn't put them back on their meetings last nite. That leaves 5 teams in the PAC6.

That is not what highschoolOT indicated yesterday and then again this morning.

RE: What Green Hope and Panther Creek Really Won Today

Panther Creek and Green Hope had a good argument and their appeal went through, we cant label Wake County as classism or not wanting to travel to certain cities off of a couple of post the same way residents dont want durham labeled off of the actions of a few that dont reflect the city as a whole.
