This was very much about not wanting to go to Durham, call a spade a spade. You can say this was due to "decreased revenues because we will lose natural rivalries that bring in gates" or "travel", but really lets call it what it is, those rivalries could have been perserved through non-conference games, and as some have indicated, travel to Durham would have been less over the course of a season. Just goes to prove that those that whine the loudest get what they want.

I find it hard to believe that the parents and fans appealed based on the fact that they would have to travel to durham, i know durham has its issues with crime and violence as does any other city but to base this soely on not wanting to travel to durham is silly, people act like residents of wake county live in a bubble and never come out im sure many parents, fans and players have been to durham before.

Folks need to take the time and read the PACKET that was presented to the NCHSAA by GH and PC concerning the appeal. Nick had a link to it in PDF format on the article concerning this issue on the front page.
I keep seeing a ton of folks bringing up 'travel' as a significant portion of the appeal and as best as I can recall, I don't think that was in there as a prominent feature of the discussion. If I'm wrong, so be it, but it appeared to me that there were a number of other items that were brought up.
But like I said, go and read through the entire 17 page packet and I personally think it provides a comprehensive outline of what was involved.

Don't get it confused PC and GH didn't win their appeal because of their argument, they won it because ECH had submitted the wrong ADM numbers.
I think you misunderstood my last comment, as it was in reference to spongebob's comment which I qouted below. I was rebutting the fact that he thought that there wasn't any racism or classism in the debate by certain supporters of PC & GH. I agree you can't label a community by the actions or words of a few. Maybe I should have said some of our Wake County Neighbors.

PC and GH didn't win the appeal because Cary is rich and white. They won because East wasn't smart enough to keep up the lie about their ADM numbers. ECHHS wanted to go down, but someone found them out. East lied about their numbers for the same reason PC and GH appealed-rivalries and travel. As a CHHS fan, I wanted them down but hey shouldn't have lied. None of this would have happened if they didn't lie.
