Hey deuce3rffr... I would contact some of the smaller schools now. Make the phone calls if the coaches have not made calls already for him. The small schools are still signing people. North Carolina Weslyn, Methdosit, Guilford, Greensboro College, Averett, try making contact with these schools.

I hesitate to get into grades and such, but let me just throw this out there as it may or may not be of assistance.
Grades can mean many different things. I may or may not have discussed this over at the blog, can't recall.
The NCAA has something called the Clearinghouse and they look over transcripts to find the GPA that is pertinent from a eligibility standpoint. There are CORE courses and then there are other courses. What is important to note is that CORE courses when tallied up, GPA wise typically in most all of the cases I've been involved in are LOWER than the overall GPA. Core courses are your math, science, English, etc courses. It is NOT, many of the electives. If this sounds new and you have questions you can contact me at durhamfbfan@gmail.com and I can point you to some detailed info on this front.
One final thing I would say is that what I listed above is about NCAA eligibility and some schools look only at this and if these requirements are meant than from an admission perspective you are good to go. Other schools don't necessarily do that. As in, you have to meet the above, but then they have their own internal admission standards that are typically a bit higher.
Also, D-III schools don't have an NCAA eligibility standard on the front end, but have their own admission standards.

He has long been cleared by the clearinghouse since Jr yr.. He is this wks winner of the wral tv5 extra effort award which will Tues Apr 24th.. He is a 3 sport all conference athlete

That does not mean he is a scholarship athlete. If he is that good, some of the schools that have been mentioned would love to have him. I hope something works out for him. Good Luck.

The big four has no interest in football played in the eastern carolina.I am a alum of a mid-eastern conf school.They just think thier are no players anywhere if they are not from ral, gboro char, ws.That is why when playoff time comes and we see a big city school We try to beat the h------------------ out of them

Good for him. Been away for a while and haven't been following, but I was getting ready to suggest the "invited walk on route".... that's still a good way to go... all you can ask for is a chance to work hard and prove yourself. Hope it works out for him.
