Why is Wakefield Football getting all these players?

RE: Why is Wakefield Football getting all these players?

Too hard on them??????? Awwwwww... those poor little babys! I am sure it was no big loss in the minds of the coaching staff! If the kids do not want to put in the work and the time to be successful then good riddance.

RE: Why is Wakefield Football getting all these players?

Haha....Please don't tell me that they are SAYING that they are transferring because the WFR coaches were too hard on them? So, what are they saying about the Wakefield coaching staff? Not hard on players, soft on players, let players do or say whatever they want? Don't require discipline, players run the team? What are they trying to say? Now, I support trying to get to the best situation to fit your skills, if it is within the established county and state rules (I believe I stated this in my previous post), but to say that kids are leaving one of the most successful programs in the area and state because the coaches are hard on them is laughable and frankly, as a parent, I want a coach to be hard on my kid. I guess, an explanation of too hard needs to be given for me to process this. Until the explanation, I'm with cantbustem, good riddance if that is the attitude. Too hard...haha. Wow!

RE: Why is Wakefield Football getting all these players?

I agree with warriorpop if a kid decides he wants to transfer for sport related reasons then he should have to sit out a year im sure that would cut out on alot of this school jumping that is going on. On the other hand Wake County is allowing students to pick their school if im not mistaken so you cant blame a kid if he or she is unhappy or feels that their talent will be utilized better somewhere. I always say there are two sides to every story not saying this is the case but maybe these young men are really unhappy at their present schools and want out I find it hard to believe that a player would form a bond and respect for a coach an his staff and just pick up and leave never know whats going on behind close doors.

RE: Why is Wakefield Football getting all these players?

Yea it's always 2 sides to a STORY. The fact is not only is players leaving WF-R some of the COACHES have left. So as they say where there is SMOKE there is fire. It happens everywhere with all programs some players are treated different than other. You have to ask yourself all the great talent WF-R has had not many SCHOLARSHIPS with FOOTBALL. At the end of the day the players have to look out for there best interest on the field and off the field. So just know the players are leaving for a reason and regardless you should treat all players HUMAN as if there your own child.

RE: Why is Wakefield Football getting all these players?

Its pretty obvious to anyone paying attention to high school athletics at WHS and WFR. Wakefield is a well run, DIVERSE high school from top to bottom. State championship after conference championship in multiple sports. Why not go there. WHS's AD is phenomenal and has its whole athletic dept. in mind. WFR is not...period. People at WFR are all caught up in a mess of high school athletic politics that are based solely on ego, initiated by certain coaches and perpetuated by naive AD. Thats why coaches are leaving and thats why athletes will continue to leave WFR. You are right Cougar83, smoke and fire

RE: Why is Wakefield Football getting all these players?

I usually do not comment on topics like this because it leads to too much speculation and not enough facts. I guess it is now time to help out some of you experts on this subject. Jaketank320, you say you know all of these guys personally. Obviously, you don’t know them too well because they would have shared with you the real reason why they left. You stated they had to work too hard or the coaches were too hard on them as a reason for them leaving, now that is laughable considering most of them played in this system for the same coaches for at least two years. So let’s just say that you are not close enough to them for them to tell you the real story.

RE: Why is Wakefield Football getting all these players?

So why don't you give us the real reason?

RE: Why is Wakefield Football getting all these players?

1. At least 5 players left the program, all DEFENSE! Some are going to Wakefield and Heritage. So no one is leaving because of the wing-t. Also, the fact the former players play defense dispels the theory that one blogger wrote about they are all running to Wakefield to catch from Wakefield's elite QB.
2. Jameritt55, the accusation that Wakefield or Heritage is recruiting is ridiculous because to my knowledge these players do not know the coaching staffs at these schools. Therefore, stop trying to ruin the reputations of these two schools or coaches when you do not have any facts. Millbrook never accused WFR of recruiting when 4 or 5 of their players started and played for WFR last year. The facts are that these players have options and many of them were leaving or left prior to the School Choice policy. Another clue, players leaving one school for another when they do not know or ever met the coaches. That should tell you something.
3. Jaketank320, you say the boys are scared of hard work. Is that the case with ALL of the coaches who have left the program? I guess they were afraid of hard work too! I am not going to speculate why they left because that is not my concern, but I will bet you my last dime it was not because they were afraid of hard work.
4. WFR has been the KING of the Cap 8 over the last 5 or 6 years, and finished (State semis, State championship appearance). How can middle of the pack Cap 8 and Cap 8 doormat teams CONSISTENTLY put players (sometimes multiple) in college? How can a WFR player make All-State, Conference/High School OT Defensive POY, make good grades/test scores, perfect size and speed, great attitude and not get a D1 or D1-AA offer? It just does not add up.
