Ryan Flowers is the latest girls basketball player from Millbrook High School to make a verbal commitment.
Millbrook girls basketball coach Chris East said Tuesday evening that Flowers has committed to UNC-Wilmington and head coach Adell Harris. Flowers is the eighth Millbrook girls basketball player to commit to a school from the Class of 2013.
"Every team needs a warrior and Ryan fills that role for us," East said. "She has fantastic hands for a post player and she is so unselfish. She's a coaches dream because whatever I ask of Ryan, she delivers."
Flowers has helped Millbrook to two straight state championship appearances. Last season, the Wildcats won the state title and Flowers was a big time contributor to that success.
"Ryan's ability to play great defense on the other team's best post player is something that is overlooked on the state sheet, but our coaches realize how important that is to the success of our team," said East. "I couldn't be happier for Ryan and I think she made an excellent choice to go to UNC-Wilmington."
