Fayetteville State adds Hoke County's Darrius Wirt

Posted February 6, 2013

Fayetteville State adds Hoke County High School football standout Darrius Wirt to its National Letter-of-Intent list. Wirt is a 6-3, 275lbs offensive lineman who played a vital role in turning the program around in Raeford NC.

β€œDarius is physically developed and mature. He is strong, powerful and athletic. He looks like he has been in college for three or four years already. He is another guy I think can come in and play early,” says Head Coach Lawrence Kershaw.

Darius has been noted to be a great kid who works hard and is Hoke County’s best offensive lineman. The Bucks ran the ball a lot behind Wirt’s position.

Hoke County finished the 2012 season with a 10-3 overall record and lost to Jack Britt High School 17-10 in the second round of the NCHSA Class AA State Playoffs.

Fayetteville State is expecting a handful of NLI signees from the high school ranks for this up-and-coming season. Last season, the Broncos had 36 freshmen and 12 sophomores listed on its roster.
