Green Hope pulled off a big win in boys basketball over Middle Creek on Tuesday, bringing the Mustangs closer to the rest of the pack when it comes to the conference championship race.
The Falcons built a lead early and held on in the fourth quarter to top the Mustangs, 58-52.
Green Hope led Middle Creek 30-25 at the half, and the Falcons extended that lead to 12 points going into the fourth quarter.
Middle Creek made a comeback though. The Falcons only scored 10 fourth quarter points, but managed to pull out the six-point victory.
John Mosser led the Falcons with 18 points. Three other Falcons scored in double-figures though – David Robertson (12), Grant Rasmussen (11), and D. Bidgood (10).
Quentin Jackson led the Mustangs with 17 points. Quenton Ray was the only other Middle Creek player in double-figures with 10 points.
Middle Creek is now 11-2 in the Tri-9 Conference, just one game ahead of Apex who is 11-3. Green Hope is in third place at 9-4.
The Mustangs will travel to Athens Drive on Friday night while Green Hope will host Lee County.
