— Enloe withstood Apex Friendship Thursday night in Raleigh, rallying to defeat the previously unbeaten Patriots, 14-7.

The Eagles took a 7-point lead into halftime after a defensive stanza that featured only one touchdown.

Apex Friendship started the second half with a bang as Scott Sidney returned the opening kickoff 75-yards back for the score to knot the game at 7-7.

The Patriots looked to be in total control after Jaden Roundtree picked off Carleon Merritt Enloe’s next drive.

Apex Friendship nearly found the endzone following the turnover, but the Patriots gave the ball right back a few plays later with a fumble near the goal line.

Merritt made up for his earlier mistake, connecting with Cowan Koonce for an 18-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter for the game-winning score.

Enloe (2-1) returns to action on Sept. 7 against Athens Drive, and Apex Friendship (2-1) will play host to Panther Creek on Sept. 8; both games are slated for 7 p.m. kickoffs.
