E.E. Smith's McLaurin headed to Seventy-First

Posted January 18, 2013

A head football coach is making a move from one Cumberland County school to another.

Duran McLaurin is leaving E.E. Smith and headed to Seventy-First, his alma mater, as head football coach, according to various media reports including the Fayetteville Observer.

A 1992 graduate of Seventy-First, McLaurin has been the head coach at E.E. Smith for the last four years, with the 2012 team posting an 11-2 mark and advancing to the third round of the NCHSAA playoffs. He had previously served at Seventy-First as an assistant coach from 1997 through 2000.

McLaurin played college football at North Carolina Central.
