Greensboro Dudley made a successful debut in the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers, one of the most prestigious prep basketball programs in North Carolina, outscored Raleigh Leesville Road 24-10 in the fourth quarter to overcome a two-point deficit and to win, 60-48, in the four-team bracket of the HSOT.
Dudley (6-4) was led by Sam Hunt and Devan Gregory, who scored 16 points each in the game. Kalil Hunt added 14 points for Dudley. Hunt hit 4-of-8 3-pointers in the game to lead the Panthers to Wednesday's four-team championship game against Garner at 2:20 p.m..
"I thought our guys played pretty well," said Dudley coach Brian Seagraves. "It was tough hitting shots in the beginning and then Sam Hunt got hot in the second quarter."
Leesville Road, which is experiencing a renaissance under first-year coach Russ Frazier, was led by 12 points from Brandon Staves and 11 from Reggie Jones. The Pride will face Goldsboro in the third-place game of the four-team tournament at 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
"This is a great event and I'm glad Leesville could be a part of it again," Frazier said. "This was good for my guys to be able to experience this."
