HighSchoolOT.com expands coverage area for upcoming year

Going into the 2011-2012 school year, HighSchoolOT.com has expanded its coverage area to include several schools to the east and south of the immediate Triangle.

The new additions will include five conferences and three independent schools, representing a total of 35 new schools added to the HighSchoolOT.com coverage area.

East of the Triangle, the Big East 3-A Conference, the Carolina 1-A Conference, the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference, the Tar Roanoke 1-A Conference. The Southeastern 4-A Conference will also be added to the HighSchoolOT.com coverage area.

Kestrel Heights, Rocky Mount Prep and Upper Room Christian Academy have all been added as independent schools as well.

Two additional schools will also be added to the Carolina 12 1-A/2-A Conference this year - Franklin Academy in Raleigh and Voyager Academy in Durham.

With the additions, HighSchoolOT.com will now cover 16 conferences and six independent schools for a total of 122 schools representing 30 counties from North Carolina.

Team pages for each of the new schools have been added to the drop down menu at the top HighSchoolOT.com, as well as on the left side navigation. Each team page will consist of the latest news for the school, schedules and standings.

New teams added to the HighSchoolOT.com coverage area will be included in the next OT Top 12 Poll for football, scheduled to be released on Aug. 15.

Other sports, such as basketball, will also be covered.

Thanks, Nick. There were many fans in the Big East Conference hoping you'd add them this year. Can't speak for the other conferences, but the competition if FIERCE in this one!!!! Looking forward to an awesome season of football!! Thanks, again!!

Thanks for the extended coverage of the 3A Big East and 2A Eastern Plains conferences. There are some very good student athletes in these areas and some very good football teams.

If, at the very least, you are counting on people to report scores and information to you, then that's hardly an expansion of coverage. Coverage implies you actually go out and do some legwork yourself. It's pretty unreasonable to expact one person to cover the 30 or so high schools in Wake County, let alone the 100+ HighSchoolOT claims it "covers." If you want to expand coverage, try expanding into sports other than football and basketball.

All I can promise is that we have always done and will continue to do our best to cover everyone. At the very least, as long as schools/coaches report information to us, we will have schedules, scores and standings for everyone.

Who’s going to actually cover all these teams/conferences? Is this just for football season? Many of the schools here in the Triangle aren’t covered as well as they should be. It sounds like a good idea in theory; however it’s my guess that only the power house teams in those leagues will truly get “coverage”.

Yes. I was hoping to have this done before the preseason poll came out for that reason lol! I'm glad to make the expansion though. I have been wanting to do this for some time now.
