Middle Creek defensive lineman Josh Banks has made his college decision.
Sean Crocker, head football coach at Middle Creek High School, told HighSchoolOT.com on Sunday evening that Banks verbally committed to Wake Forest.
"I picked Wake Forest because everything about it is great," Banks said in a text message. "It felt like home right away."
The 6-foot-4, 255-pound defensive end recorded 58 tackles, 4 sacks and 1 forced fumble last season. Banks helped the Mustangs to a 9-3 overall record, including a run to the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 4-AA state playoffs.
Banks runs a 4.8-second 40-yard dash and benches a maximum of 290 pounds. Rivals.com lists Banks as a 2-star prospect.
Maryland, Minnesota and Western Michigan also offered Banks, and a number of other schools, including Clemson, Duke and NC State, among others, have shown some interest.
Banks is a member of the Class of 2012, and will enroll at Wake Forest next year.
