NCPreps.com released its list of the top ten North Carolina high school football prospects from the Class of 2012.
Only one Triangle player made the cut.
Millbrook running back Keith Marshall is listed as the No. 3 overall prospect in the state. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back is listed as a four-star prospect on Rivals.com, the parent website of NCPreps.com.
Marshall runs a 4.4 second 40-yard dash. Last season he recorded nearly 1,200 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in ten games for the Wildcats. He also had nearly 250 receiving yards for a pair of touchdowns.
Over 30 Division-I schools have extended offers to Marshall so far, but the rising senior has already narrowed down his list to 12 schools.
Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Stanford and USC are all still in the running for one of the most sought after running backs in the Class of 2012.
Mallard Creek offensive lineman D.J. Humphries and Crest defensive end Jonathan Bullard are the top two North Carolina prospects from the Class of 2012.
Roanoke Rapids offensive lineman J.J. Patterson, who has verbally committed to North Carolina, is ranked at No. 9.
