The Henderson Daily Dispatch is reporting that former East Chapel Hill head football coach Darian Harris has been selected to fill the same position at Northern Vance.
Harris was let go from Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools earlier this year due to budget cuts. He speculated at the time that he may end up teaching in Durham County somewhere, but he will now make the move to Northern Vance.
Northern Vance athletic director David Hicks told The Daily Dispatch that Harris seemed like a good fit for the school.
"His recommendations are just incredibly high," Hicks told the newspaper. "To be honest with you, there were no negatives about him."
Harris will replace Cedric Crudup as the head football coach. Crudup resigned as the football coach earlier this year.
Hicks told The Daily Dispatch that Harris was one of three final candidates that he described as "really strong."
Northern Vance, a member of the Carolina 6 3-A Conference, was 1-10 last season.
