VYPE Media and HighSchoolOT.com will kick off the high school fall sports season with an expo at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds for athletes, coaches and parents.
“We are putting on the biggest high school sports pep rally in the state of North Carolina,” VYPE Publisher Richard Williams said.
The first annual VYPE High School Sports Conference and Expo will be held Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Exposition Center at the fairgrounds. It will feature educational programs, interactive games, giveaways and the latest gear to help athletes excel on and off the field.
Experts will offer advice for athletes about college scholarships and the recruiting process and about fitness training and wellness.
Visitors can meet professional athletes, test their skill in the HoopCityU Three-Point Challenge and enjoy performances by local high school bands, cheerleaders, spirit teams and step teams.
Admission to the expo is free for athletes wearing jerseys, school personnel and those under 12. Parents and others can pre-register for $5 or pay $7 at the door.
VYPE will make a donation to support high school athletics to the school which sends the greatest number of attendees to the expo. A portion of the proceeds from the event will fund the VYPE High School Academic Athlete Scholarship, to be awarded to a student who combines the best attributes of academics, athletics and sportsmanship.
