Word of God used a big second quarter performance to pull ahead of Ravenscroft, but the Holy Rams boys basketball team had to hang on to defeat the Ravens, 52-51.
Ravenscroft ended the first quarter with a 10-8 lead over the Holy Rams, but Word of God scored 23-points in the second quarter to go up 31-24 at the half.
The second half belongs to the Ravens, though.
Ravenscroft battled back in the third quarter. The Ravens outscored Word of God 13-10 in the period, cutting the Word of God lead to four-points.
The comeback continued in the fourth quarter. Ravenscroft against outscored the Rams by three-points, but a dunk by Bishop Daniels with just over a minute left gave the Rams a lead they would not lose.
Ravenscroft's comeback fell one-point short as the Holy Rams advanced to the win.
C.J. Leslie led all scorers in the game with 22-points. He was one of three Holy Rams to score in double-figures.
Bishop Daniels and Elijah Johnson both scored 10-points a piece for the Rams.
Ravenscroft was led by Joell Hopkins with 15-points. Quinn Billerman added another 14-points.
Hopkins and Billerman were the only two Ravens to score in double-figures, but Michael Ehilegbu added nine-points for Ravenscroft.
