Fuquay-Varina went south for the playoffs – and came out with a big win.
The Bengals traveled to Pinecrest and roared away with a 41-7 victory Friday night in the state football playoffs.
Nate Budde got Fuquay going early, passing to Malcolm Thaxton for a big gain that put the Bengals at the Pinecrest 45-yard line. Budde later scored on a run from the 2-yard line.
Fuquay’s Issac Minor rumbled in from inside the 5-yard line later for a 14-0 lead. The Bengals made it 21-0 when Minor stripped Ben Williams, grabbed the ball and ran in for a score.
