South Johnston jumped out to an early lead and kept on pushing to beat Rocky Mount 35-18 Friday night in the high school football playoffs.
Anthony Crummity went off left tackle and burst through the secondary for an 18-yard score to give South Johnston a 7-0 lead.
Quarterback Patrick Dunningan threw to Dee Williams for a 37-yard score and the Trojans led 14-0.
Rocky Mount rallied to cut the margin to 14-6, but South Johnston was soon back in the endzone. Dunningan hit Williams for a 24-yard score and South Johnston led 21-6 at the half.
