WF-R crushes Garner, 42-8, goes to 13-0

Nov 21, 2009

Wake Forest-Rolesville continued to roll through the playoffs, defeating Garner, 42-8.

Trea Jones broke a 55 yard touchdown run in the first quarter, then attempted to run for the two-point conversion. The attempt failed, and Wake Forest-Rolesville led 6-0.

Moments later, Dan Tomchik ran into the end zone from one yard out on the quarterback keeper, and Jones attempted the two-point conversion again. The attempt was a success the second time around, and the Cougars were up 14-0 early.

Garner was without it's starting quarterback Cody Woodall, but the Trojan defense got a score in the first quarter with a safety.

Wake Forest-Rolesville still led 14-2 after the first quarter.

The Cougars added a three yard touchdown run by Delano Tavares, and led 21-2 at the half.

In the third quarter, Tavares struck again with a 29 yard touchdown run, pushing the lead to 28-2.

Garner finally scored a touchdown in the beginning of the fourth quarter when Juwan Moye busted into the end zone from one yard out.

That was the only score for the Garner offense, though.

Meanwhile, Wake Forest-Rolesville added two additional touchdowns in the fourth quarter; a two yard run by James Harris and a 35 yard pass from Tomchik to Fabian Seabrooks.

Jones finished the game with nearly 250 rushing yards to help lead his team to their 13th straight victory.

The top-ranked Cougars will host Fuquay-Varina next week in a game between two teams with similar offensive styles.
