Moore's 50-yard field goal caps East Chapel Hill rally over No. Durham

Northern Durham and East Chapel Hill came into Friday's game as a pair of winless teams, but East Chapel Hill finally scored a victory with a 17 unanswered points in the second half, capped off with a last minute field goal.

A 50 yard field goal by Thomas Moore lifted East Chapel Hill to a 24-21 win over the Knights.

Northern Durham led 21-7 at the half, but the Knights were held scoreless in the final two quarters.

Aquez Willis scored on a 25 yard pass from Drew Davis in the third quarter to cut Northern's lead to 21-14.

With 7:25 left in the final quarter, Mark Farrish ran into the end zone from six yards out to tie the game at 21-21.

With 15 seconds left, Moore nailed a 50-yard field goal to give East Chapel Hill the dramatic victory,

Northern Durham lost two fumbles and quarterback Andy Henry threw one interception. East Chapel Hill's only turnover was an interception throw by Davis.

Penalties were also a probelm for the Knights. Northern Durham was flagged for seven penalties worth 59 yards, while East Chapel Hill was only penalized once for five yards.

Time of possession also belonged to East Chapel Hill. The Wildcats had the ball for 27:04 while Northern had possession for 20:56.

Taylor led the Knights in rushing with 116 yards on 17 carries. The team combined for 119 net yards on the ground.

Henry completed 17-of-26 passes for 178 yards and two scores. He was sacked three times and threw an interception.

The leading receiver for Northern was Cortez Edwards who caught seven passes for 71 yards. Nick Warren caught both touchdown passes for Northern Durham.

East Chapel Hill only recorded 66 net rushing yards on 31 attempts. Willis posted 35 yards on four carries, while Farrish added 23 yards on 16 carries.

Davis completed 11-of-19 passes for 124 yards and a score. Davis was sacked twice and threw a single interception.

Davis' leading receiver was also the kicking hero, Moore. The senior caught four passes for 59 yards. Willis caught Davis' touchdown pass and finished the game with 55 yards on six receptions.

East Chapel Hill (1-7, 1-2) will travel to Southern Durham (8-1, 4-0) next week. Northern Durham (0-9, 0-4) will have an off week next week before hosting Southern Durham on Oct. 30.
