Ravens dominate Wake Christian, 57-20

Oct 10, 2009

Ravenscroft piled up 459 yards of total offense as they pounded Wake Christian 57-20 behind an efficient performance by Ravenscroft sophomore quarterback Quinn Billerman.

The young Ravens quarterback completed 8-of-9 through the air and racked up 240 yards and the touchdowns.

Ravenscroft opened the game with 34 unanswered points and the Bulldogs were unable to overcome the deficit.

Ravens running back Connor Gonet dashed in from 37 yards out to get the first score, then after a three and out by the Bulldog offense, Shane Bird sprinted 50 yards on a punt return for touchdown.

The Ravens didn’t let up as Billerman found Temple Sloan in the flats and Sloan took it in from 49 yards out. Afterward, Billerman got the chance to finish the act with his legs as he carried around the left side for 19 yards and a score.

Ravenscroft led 27-0 after the first quarter.

Ravenscroft wide out Hartland Jones made his return to the Ravens’ line up felt as he broke a quick screen pass 72 yards for a score, putting the game well out of reach.

Wake Christian did not call it quits down 34-0. Quarterback Tyler Renfroe found Robert Houston for 48 yards and a touchdown to put the Bulldogs on the board.

Renfroe went 7-for-17 and piled up 140 yards, scoring two touchdowns on the night.

Renfroe completed a 35 yard pass to Reece Thomas for his other passing touchdown.

Thomas also found the end zone on the ground from nine yards out to round out the scoring for the Bulldogs.

Ravenscroft’s win is the first on the road for the Ravens and is the first time this season that the team has won back-to-back games. They improve to 5-3 on the season and will take on North Raleigh Christian next Friday night at home.

The Bulldogs fell to 1-6 on the year and will look for their second win of the season next Friday against Fayetteville Christian at home.
