Britt's Nixon won't participate in Shrine Bowl

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Jack Britt lineman Xavier Nixon will not be making the trip to Spartanburg, S.C., to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolina's.

According to reports by Rivals.com, Nixon will be traveling to New York to receive an award, though no details about the award were available.

The North Carolina Shrine Bowl coaches have selected Michael Brooks of Bartlett Yancey to replace Nixon.

The Shrine Bowl of the Carolina's is the nation's oldest prep football all-star game. It is held annually, showcasing some of North Carolina's best senior football players against their counterparts in South Carolina.

This year's game will be held on Dec. 20, at Gibbs Stadium.

Jack Britt lost to Richmond County in the 4-AA state championship on Sunday, 38-35.
