RALEIGH — High school football games across the state were postponed Friday due to heavy rain, but some of the games rescheduled for Saturday may be in jeopardy.
The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a torando watch for counties from the Triangle area east, but shortly after 4 p.m., the watch was dropped for Wake County.
Meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said Saturday afternoon that the main threat from storms on Saturday will be damaging straight line winds, but added that isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out until the cold front in the mountains passes through the area late today.

The Middle Creek vs. Smithfield-Selma first round playoff game that was postponed until Saturday at 1 p.m., has been postponed again.
The game will now be played on Monday evening at 7 p.m.
Members of the Middle Creek coaching staff indicated that the field was in poor condition Saturday. There is also another chance of severe weather Saturday afternoon and evening.
Doc Harrell, the Garner athletic director, confirmed for HighSchoolOT.com Saturday afternoon that Garner and Millbrook will play their game tonight. "We're going to try and play tonight," Harrell said.
Kick off of the Garner vs. Millbrook game is scheduled for 7 p.m., at Trojan Stadium in Garner.
HighSchoolOT.com is checking the status of the Broughton vs. South View game and will have details as soon as they are available. There have been no indications that the game will be postponed again, though.
A number of games were postponed on Friday night due to the wet weather. Postponed games that are not played Saturday must be played Monday. No games will be played on Sunday.
Local games moved to Monday night include West Johnston at Apex and Cary at Southeast Raleigh.
The N.C. High School Athletic Association also postponed the soccer state championships scheduled to be held at N.C. State Saturday. The 1-A, 2-A and 3-A state championships will be held on Sunday, while the 4-A state title game will be be played on Monday evening.
