CARY — Panther Creek High School will graduate their first senior class in school history in June, and on Thursday, the Catamounts proudly watched as three student-athletes signed their National Letter's of Intent.
Basketball player Earnest Ross signed with Auburn, Jaleesa Wilson signed with Denver for gymnastics, and lacrosse player Taylor Womble signed with Wingate.
Ross is one of the highest ranked recruits in the state of North Carolina for the Class of 2009.
"I feel real comfortable in my decision that I made, and I just think this is a real special moment, for not only me, but for my family and my coach," Ross said after signing his Letter of Intent.
Ross said he felt most comfortable at Auburn, indicating that he really liked the coaching staff, the facilities and the campus. He also added that he has family that lives close by in Atlanta and in Mississippi.
"I think its going to be a real good conference when I get there," Ross said of the SEC, a conference that is traditionally known for its football. "It's going to be real good competition for me."
Ross averaged over 22 points per game last season, and he expects Panther Creek to have a very good season this year.
"[I'm looking] for our team to just be the best we can be," Ross said, "We always used to be the youngest group, but now we have five seniors. We're the oldest group going out there, and we've been playing with each other for three years."
Ross committed to Auburn at the beginning of September.
